I think there is one thing that JOE did better, and that is flight controls. These suck and tthe options for using a stick only make it worse because they log by axis and you can't reverse them. The helo controls in JOE were simple and enjoyable, if I wanted to go to flight school I would.

I played BF2 at a friends house, since my computer cant run it.  It was ok, like I imagined, everyone running around shooting everyone.  Sure takes alot of rounds to kill someone, but I guess that prevents from someone spraying a praying.  If it were not for the air options I would get bored with this very fast.

Piloting the Cobra was the best!  Took a bit of getting used to it, since I have never flown a helo, and didnt know exactly how it flew.  But after a few crashes on take off and many more in combat manuvers, I can navigate pretty well.  I piloted while my gunner Cougar gunned people down with the minigun and the tv guided missiles. I could land back at the carrier for repairs, not a pretty landing but one the least.  Loads of fun, just hated those who tked so they could try to fly the helos, most crashed.  After experiencing a glimpse of helo flight here, I have more respect for those who do it for real! Woody : )  It seems to be like a controlled chaos, and if you dont know what you are doing then chaos wins.

Looks like I'll pick it up as soon as I'm finished with my airsoft spending. I just hope they patch the game soon, the only problem I had was the unrealistic amount of rounds I had to pump into a guy to put him down.

The quietest move is the most efficient one.

Are you sure you were actually hitting him?  Using the iron sites and shooting from a crouched/prone position will greatly enhance your accuracy.

Also, you have to keep in mind that BF2 is not meant to be 100% realistic.  Although games that are realistic in respect to how much damage you can take (such as Flashpoint) can be very fun, they don’t tend to be as popular.  Most people don’t want to be taken out by a single lucky shot.  Personally I think BF2 does a very good job of compromising realism with playability.

I remember having to pop a guy twice in the head multiple times, those hash marks and that little puff cloud that appears whenever I get a hit were a dead giveaway.

Thats ok, I was at point blank and placed a whole M9 mag into a guys chest while he bashed me at the same time.  We both died at the same time. Now explain that one to me.

But as Kurn put it, this game is not for realism, but for playability and fun factor.  If you want more milsim, try Americas Army or one of those Flashpoint games as Kurn mentioned.
