What CAN you upgrade on a gas pistol?
« on: July 25, 2006, 05:14:50 AM »
I guess the two pistols I'm familiar with are the M9s and Sigs from KJW.

What can you mod and what kind of parts do what to a gas pistol?

I never knew that three inches was the minimum length for a handgun barrel. I guess all of the anti-gun politicians wont be able to register their penises.

Hmm...
All right, another question.

Ignoring all logic, in a gas blowback pistol, how can you INCREASE the recoil?

you can get a high flow valve and a better recoil and hammer spring. And porbaly a metal slide.

I just wondering why you'd want to do it in first place?  If you have a functioning sidearm and no leak in your mags, you are good to go.  You don't have to have a pistol that shoots 490 FPS.  I know some like the "realism" of a metal slide and more recoil and so forth, so I guess that justifies it for some.  To be honest, you probably will use your side arm less than 5% of your skirmishing time.  This rules out things like pistol matches, cqb  and the times when you run out of mags for your rifle and have to switch of course....

Eh, I said "ignoring all logic."
I'm throwing in questions here.

If you install a high-flow valve, is it possible for you to run out of gas in your magazine (if it was filled prior to firing, no leakage) before you run out of BBs? If it is, anything you can do to keep that from happening?

What kind of parts/companies make the best recoil springs, high-flow valves, and are accuracy barrels worth the twenty bucks in a pistol (again, ignoring how often it is used as a sidearm)?

Use Red Gas instead of Green, has a little more 'punch' to it.

Agrees.

I would not recommend upgrading your recoil spring, gas release valve, or hammer spring.

For one, you're gun will experience cool down MUCH faster, even here in Az.
Second, slide lock will most likly become disabled due to faster cool down.
Third, you won't be able to finish a mag.

You'll get hard hitting shots for the first seven or so.
After that it's all downhill.

I'm selling all my GBBs (Haven't treated me the best), and then I'm just going to purchase a reliable NBB.

I think it depends on the gun, some guns when you fill them to full capacity and fire all the BBs you still got some gas left. I think upgrading to a metal slide is more milsim/realistic, as long as your within fps limits.

Oh, my post was concerning upgraded hammer springs, flow valves, and recoil springs.

I have an upgraded hammer and recoil spring in my KJW G27, and it can't even finish a mag.

Before the upgrades, it was able to go for about two mags.
After all, it is a KJW

i had a ksc glock 18c with upgraded recoil spring and metal slide with high flow valves in one long mag and one short mag. i could finish a long mag on auto with the highflow easily with some gas left over. semi auot i could get 100 shots.

I had a KWA version of the same gun, I also had the Hurricane upgrade kit installed (just recoil spring and high flow valve). The problem is that your durability will go down, way down. Don't go nuts with that full auto, it'll just kill it faster. I went through two of them, both with the upgrades and I must say that its not worth it to have a pistol shooting 330fps or higher.
