big bulky front vest...why bother??

what  is the advantage to having a huge front vest? i think less is more. all i use 2 mag pouches around a belt. thats all one needs as far as im concerned. the extra mass makes it hard to lay on your stomach, and even harder to conceal yourself. So why do all the big players use these vests?

I go prone all the time. That rig has everything I need on it.

Two mag pouches on a belt is cool, I guess, but where's your water, your radio, your extra BBs, your loaders, multitool, all that stuff?

Less is more, but then you get into not having enough.

Just a quick question there Vince, what purpose does that tan strap coming out of both shoulder pads down like a necklece serve? Sling?

add another pouch or 2 for the bb's. a multitool (like my leatherman) usually comes with a belt holster. and im sunk as far as water and a radio. I saw a tan vest work on the rear... almost like a backpack. but more like a vest. i thought that'd be a good solution.

It's where I clip war trophies. Ford emblems, ears, foreskins (useful when battling Phillistines), the female Fastex buckle attached to my AEG, stuff like that.

Yeah, bassick1 (I forgot your name, sorry), you run the risk of looking like batman then. I dunno, this works for me and I like it, so I do it.

i thought about going with one as well, but something doesent seem right about it :-/      they're pricey too... this is one expensive hobby

I like my setup... 2 triple mag pouches, canteen, buttpack, thigh holster, dual pistol mag pouch... maybe a harness to hold it up or something. I tried tac vests and LBVs but I like this the best its simple cheap and effective.

The advantage of carrying all your gear on a chest rig or vest instead of a belt is you get more mobility. When all the gear is off your hips it is alot easier to move.

Yep!  Thank goodness Its expensive.  Otherwise everyone would be doing it.....

Try the infinity tactical kit at JungleToy.  Its not as COOL as some of the other kit, but its sturdy and long lasting, it looks just like the Blackhawk kit that MSG Mullen uses, and they are coming out with a modular system soon.  I can afford a more expensive kit, but I see no valid reason....

I like my russian vest. Its has alot of mobility, and never gets in the way. It almost like a chest rig. If you use low caps though you will need to have alot more puches and gear. My vest holds 12 mags, and then I have a camel back, with a back pocket, and I usually have a bag of BBs there, and I just stick a battery on the side of one of the pouches. It works for me. But I am not hardcore like some on the forumb. I plan on getting a guarder vest and go to some national events, when I get older.

If you don't want to do the modular vest thing, but still want a vest, shoot me a PM.  I know of some IDF vests that run just over 200.00 that have so many pouches it's stupid.



Comes with a hydration system too...
