I've read many reports of people being shot/ havings cops disarm, or yelling at them to drop their weapons, yet it was just an airsoft gun. My uncle had to do so once up in colorado.

Since its by federal law the manufactures have to paint on the tips-I'd keep it on if I were you. thats just me.

Considering your age its a good idea.....

But it sounds like a lo tof hearsay and bad legal analysis...

The rule is simple:

1)  Must have orange tip at time of import and sale in the USA pursuant to federal law.  Federal law ONLY regulates import and sale, not possession of airsoft replicas.

2) There are no State laws anywhere that make absence of the orange tip AFTER sale a crime.  There may be certain city regulations but they are subject to an upcoming Supreme Court decision addressing the 2nd Amendment.

Do a search on this topic ... its been discussed ad nauseum.....

Don't mess around with an AEG within city limits, Don't worry about it.

Thats where all problems are. Other then that, your good to go on changing the flash hider.

oh ok.
Can I just sand the color off of mine? Or do I have to paint it,
I dont want it to come out two different shades of black (a glossy one, and a dull one, for all those smart Asses out there -.- )

Take nail polish remover to the orange tip, I find that the cleanest way to get it off.

If you're close enough to a city that you're likely to encounter cops, waving a real or fake gun around isn't the best of ideas to begin with...

You can just use a pneumatic sander and sand all the paint in like 1 minute.

Why not just paint over it in the first place?

Definately remove the orange paint. Most times the camo paint wont stick to the orange paint too well. Sucks spending time and effort on a camo job, just to have the paint chip off of your flashhider (therefore exposing the orange paint.)
Trust me, do it right the first time.

Mine just pops on and off. If I use it outside I keep the tip on. The tip covers threads, too. It's nice.

I fitted mine so that I can have it on during transportation (just incase) then take it off during battle.
