Three Point Sling
« on: August 26, 2010, 12:11:24 PM »
I'm considering buying a three point sling, but I'm wondering if their any better than a two point. Is it better to stick with my two point, or should I go with the three?

General gear trends have gone from 2 to 3point then to 1pont and back to 2. The best thing to do is pick one and try it out, or if you can find a place that has many and try a few before you commit.

I prefer 3-points over 2-points. As a side note, they will act like a 2-point if you want them to.

You also have to take into consideration what gear you use. Vest, Plate carrier, or LBE setup, each has its advantages and disadvantages for different slings. A lot of guys in my unit switched from two and three point slings to wolf clips and weapon catches. It worked really well with our IOTVs.

If you have a rig where you have mag pouches in front 3 point sling isn't always the best option.  Depending on how the slings on the gun and your pouches are oriented 3 point slings sometimes get hung up on the pouches.

I went ahead and bought a Condor special forces sling, and it doesn't really seem to get in the way of the rest of my gear, so I'm pretty happy with it for now.

Best sling I have ever used. Paracord. :)
For about two bucks, you get the most modular, sling possible. LOL
It looks great woven too.
I will take a pic if I can later.
