That looks like a mod/tweak, not something that is usable out of the box.

Yeah there may be, but without someone to show me how to do it.  I won't be doing it any time soon.  So HL2 is back on my shelf waiting for the expansion.

to start a multi-player game do the following :
net_start
sv_lan 0
deathmatch 1
maxplayers (whatever you want)
map (mapname)
restart

it will add you to the master server and it works. I know, it looks like the leak, but I assure you this is the retail HL2.

Well I got the game off Steam today. Its Crazy!!! Graphics, Physics, and the story are all top notch. I cant wait for some MODS to be released.

You do all of this in the console.  To enable the console, go to options-->keyboard-->advanced and enable console.  Then just press the ~ key (under ESC key) and type these commands in order one by one.  The first command starts the network protocol for the game, the second sets the server type to an internet game, he third sets the game style, the fourth will set the max players obviously, and the fifth one changes to the specified map to play on.  Restart I believe when people are in.  I havent tried yet, gonna go over to work and try it on our PCs to check.

Well let me know if you can actually search for games somehow, or if you need to know the IP address of the server that is playing the game before you can log into it.

Im not 100% sure but i think they are going to announce a DM mode and maybe more. There was a rumor about HL2 "amazing MP mode" that will be announced later after the game was released so that might be part of the commands for that system. They could easly release it when ever and just add to the game since steam will automaticly update your games for you its possable they are working on something as we speak.

I'm sure they are.  They are already working on HL3 and an expansion to this one.  Hopefully the expansion has TF2 in it.

As far as I know you need to know IP addy...there isnt a gametype set in the serverlist for HL2.  Yeah, Im waiting on Insurgency to come out...whenver that is.  It looks so tight...

im watching junglemist www.junglemistmod.com :) it will have an exp system that crosses servers and stays with your steam ID as long as you play. Its from the makers of FA for HL.

Just finished the game and WOW it was great, BUUUUUUUUT I kind of thought there would be more to the ending (even though I know it's just an opener for HL3) like Gordon making out with that chick!

To my disapointment, I can't play it, because XP seems to think that the DVD that came in the box is actually a blank CD-RW... But my brother is playing it, and it looks cool.
