I think that stars would be perfect for CQB environments. No bushes to contend with and people are at a lot closer ranges, so that a single shot will be noticed.

Often I hear that you need three BB's to simulate 1 rifle round. I don't completely buy that because if we scale down the average M16 engagement we will find that we are at about 10% give or take.

Real Steel
M16 Range 300m(984Ft) Avg good shot at 945m/s(3100fps)

Airsoft
AEG Range 30m(100ft) Avg good shot at 122m/s (400fps)

So we are 10% in distance and speed. So if 100ft is the same as 984ft then someone behind a bush may not even be seen or even miss at 984ft with only one round.

It is not a perfect system but I think its close. Therefore I am happy just using "Real Caps" it just makes me stay lower and work harder to maneuver at close range.

For those of you in law-enforcement you know that you have to pay as much attention to what is between you and the target as much as what is behind the target. Therefore if you don’t think you can make the shot then use tactics to get the shot.

It’s about Leadership, Teamwork, Skill, and Gear. (In that order)

Well said, I'm to the point of more realism now I have sold all of my hicaps and all that remain are my midcaps for my m15a2 carbine and my realcaps for my m16vn.

And here I thought it was mindset, tactics, skill and gear.

I like the STAR 30 round mags because during a firefight if you need to reload then it is a pump or two of the speedloader's handle, kind of cheap but good for the money. I would recommend.

It take leadership to effectively define the goal, teamwork to effectively reach the goal, skill to effectively eliminate the goal, and gear to look cool in... :)

Anyways, this weekend I had a K : D ratio of 8:1 using my G&P m16vn w/ 20rd mags vs upgraded CA M15a4's w/ hicaps.   I'm not switchin back when these magazines work so well for me.   As long as you have the skill, some teamwork, and you don't need all the ammo...[smilie=armata_pdt_34.gif]

I only wish they made the cheap 30rnd mags for more guns, as anyone that does not run with an AR, AK, or mp5 is out of luck. I like my star mags, I just got several GP midcaps and they have been phenomnal so far and look nice too. Never gonna waste my money on highcaps again.

I would keep an eye out, with growing interest I'm sure Star will continue to make affordable real-caps for more and more guns.  So far they have come out with real-caps for:  G3 20rd, M16 20rd, M16 30rd, MP5 30rd, L85 30rd, and AK 30rd mags.  It is especially nice when you can buy a box of 10 for $40.

I like the realism thing, but I'm usually the guy that runs out of ammo when he needs it. Doens't happen with the hi caps hehe. Only problem i see is that if your in a long games and shoot alot it'd take forever to reload all those mags at the end of the game. Pain in the ass. I would go with a hi cap anyday. If you dont like to wind it, get a drum      :!:

Don't shoot so much, or carry alot of mags. You'll be just like the real world guys!

I still think hicaps and drums should be only for MG's and such.

LOL that is awfully true... so wenever I rush I start shooting before going in since evryone already knows I'm coming :D anyway then I just full auto for another minute. It works well. But in extreme cases ( I havent had to do this) were it absolutly has to be quit, I'd take off my vest and justr go in with one hi cap... its nice and quit if you go in slow.
