MG36? Comments welcome!
« on: March 23, 2006, 10:39:22 PM »
So I've given up the idea of having a rapid-fire M4.

Trying to get together a parts list for a rapid-fire G36, here's what I have so far:

TM G36C
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... odID=10421

G36K Kit
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... odID=14661

Systema Hi-Speed gears
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... rodID=8465

Systema short Torque-up motor
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... rodID=8558

Those are what I thought I would start out with, however under previous (unheeded) advisement from a lot of the AEG mechanics on this forum, I've added the following:

HurricanE N-B CYlinder Enhancement kit
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... odID=18644

Systema M100 spring
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... rodID=8626

Systema Spring guide with bearing
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... rodID=8619

And powering the whole thing, a large-type 9.6V 3800mAh battery, probably custom-made.

I wish you the best of luck warlock, I was toying with the idea for a while, then I realized I'd have to spend more money than I could make in six months to make this gun a reality.

Btw what kind of bipod are you planning to use?

im sure you have a reason for this, but why didnt you just get a ca g36k instead of the tm and the k kit?

If you really want to make a MG36 you'll need to rethink this.

MG36 is the same as the G36 fullsize with a Beta C-Mag

So i would either go with

G36c with G&P G36 Hanguard, STAR Carrying Handle, Star/G&P Buttstock or just get the STAR G36.

G&P G36 Handguard
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... B_srch_G36

STAR Carrying Handle
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... 1_srch_G36

STAR Buttstock
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... 6_srch_G36

G&P Buttstock
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... 9_srch_G36

Star G36
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper.ph ... 6_srch_G36

As far as internals Systema High Speed Gears don't really last that long, I've had a set inside my MP5k and they broke within 10k rounds.

I would recomend Phoenix High Speed Gears. Way better durability.

Also you'll need a long motor, not a short.

For internals all you really need is...

Systema Bushings
Systema Spring Guide
M100-SP110

Because I may want to throw a conversion kit on it down the road, and the conversion kits fit Marui, not CA. Besides, I own a CA one already.

Let me ask a silly question here, Warlock.

Why don't you increase your ROF by using a higher voltage battery?  That will still allow you to use more robust internals, and will eliminate the possibility of many of the problems you've had.

I feel that upgrading the internals is job one. Without it, running even a high-output(30A+ discharge rate) 9.6 will destroy a gearbox. My build up above did specify a custom-made 9.6V battery (one of the high-discharge ones), but after those upgrades the only thing I will be doing to the gun to get more RPS out of it is upping the voltage.... first 10.8, then 12V. I just wanted to see if I could reinforce the internals (hence the hi-torque internals...) before unloading an ass-ton of voltage through it.

I've seen an M4 with a CA gearbox and Systema Internals run for 3 years on a 30A discharge 10.8v pack with not one problem.  ROF was what I'd consider "very high."  It also shot 400 fps.

Likewise, I've seen mechanically "upgraded" high speed gearboxes go tits-up after one game.

well i have a CA G36 that i'm slowly turning into an MG36 myself, an normal 9.6v 1100mah stick battery is what i use and it works great for upgrading the ROF, my friend has one as well in his TM G36 and hasn't had any problems either, but i've been looking into it for a long time and i would recomend the STAR handle and carrying handle, but i heard the reddot ain't too good. and STAR is also comming out with a new Drummag for the G36 it auto winds and stuff, i don't know much about it but i'm looking into it. and no offence to you speedy but i would personaly stay away form the G&G folding stock beceause there are specially fit batteries that fin inside the handgard the 12v ones, which you would have to prolly upgrade the internals as you prolly know, and the G&G folding stock requiers a special battery and totals up to a bit over 100$ which might not be a lot to you but i'd rather not spend the money besides it don't look as good in my oppionon.

You know, I just can't get over how ugly (to me) the G36K and KE carry handles are. I like the low-profile rail on top of the 36C. Everybody has their own tastes however.

The more I look at it, the better off I might be getting the Star SL-9:

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/p ... odID=20040

It's got the lo-pro rail, the extended inner barrel and handguard free of obnoxious railing, customizable buttstock and cheek rest. Everything I need, in one package. Shoots approx 350fps out of the box too.

For those of you wondering, even though the markings on the gun indicate semi only, it is fully capable of full-auto fire, the markings are full of it.

I respect Star and I appreciate the fresh ideas they bring to what would otherwise be a world of the same old M4s and AKs all over the field. New manufacturer or not, they have my attention and everything that I've seen that they make is solid.

PM Nil8r....JT DM.  Maybe you could talk him into sending you a picture of his mg36.  Our you could even work with Ethan in Tucson JT to find a day when Ron will actually be at that store and you can see it in person.  I think his set up is what you want, it looks good to!  So build it, so they will come, & then they will be hit.
