I have only used iron sights. (I used to paintball, recently convertING to airsoft).  There were instances that I really wanted a scope.  Learn on Iron sights, than if your play type needs more range, get a low powered scope.

yeah plus youre not going to get that good of range with an AEG that a high power scope is gonna do for you. A 2x, 3x, and possibly a 4x would be allright

With my ak47 it only seems right to use iron sights.  Plus it cuts down on the weight of gun - and branch catching attachments.  However you could just use the age old heat seaking bb's, you'll never miss.

Having used real life battle rifles (as I'm sure at least a few of you have) I prefer non-magnifying optics. A red dot is awesome for quick acquisition. Iron sights are nice if you can spare a second or two.

Running an optic on a carry handle is a pain; not pretty, and not comfortable.

I guess speaking from experience, the first shot is usually fired before you are actually 'on target.' If that's the case, why not get the quickest possible eye on target?
