General Airsoft Discussion / gas or electric?
« on: August 04, 2002, 08:15:46 PM »
I know this really is a personal preference thing and I've read discussions on it before. But what I'm referring to is sniping.

It started storming when I saw the SVD Dragonov sniper rifle (by PDI or G&P) in Guns N Guys It's gas operated. The challenger is the the TM HK G3PSG1.

I'm not sure if anyone has actually used the Dragonov, but my question is directed toward gas oppereated/GBBs in general.
   Some specific questions:
        A. What is the difference between Green Gas and compressed CO2?
        B. Can CO2 be substituted for Green Gas?
        C. Is there more maintenance for GBB than AEG?
        D. Are there any other possible drawbacks to GBBs that I might overlook?

Thanks for your input!

I was just wonderin' if anyody knows what th first AEG was... I mean, what type of gun?

Also... who was the first producer of AEGs... meaning, who made the first one?

Who designed the (person or company)?

And finally, how much did they go for when they first hit the market?

Well thanks if you can answer any of these!

AEG's / AAAA! Help! Help!
« on: June 28, 2002, 10:53:44 PM »
Major emergency here! okay... well it's just the first time my gun hasn't worked. Sorry, it's not really that big I guess.
Well, here's my highly tecnical analysis: I pull trigger, gun doesn't make a sound and no action. Yes, the batery is charged and properly conected and safety is off.
I tried to take it apart, but after removing all the pins the top part that's supposed to separate from the bottom resisted an I didn't want to force it for fear of damaging the gun further. This being my first gun, I don't know if it's supposed to resist or not when i try to open it.
Well, any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks Everyone!

If you're in Tucson the only army surplus (the other two went out of business) is downtown. I don't know what the address is, but it's right off 5th and 5th I think. $26 each for jacket and pants. They have a wide variety of boots, I got magnums on sale for $50 (normally $80 or $100). I would defanatly recomend magnums! I used to buy the $20 pairs, but i would have to replace them every year, and they would hurt my feet, so I invested in Magnums. Once they're broken in it's just like wearing hi-top tennis shoes or something... they are very, VERY comfortable.

tthe way my recruiter explains the relation of .50 cal and the Geniva is: "the Geniva convention regulates .50 cal for use agains equipment only. Thus, when questions, you were shooting at the enemy's gun, knife, or weapon, not him... the high penetration happened to pass through the equipment and into him." He also explained a technicallity that clothing is equipment.

How do i go about trouble shooting the thing once it's apart? i've established it's either the trigger or the motor... or the connection from the battery through to the triger...

thanks for your help!

well the fuse looks good to me, I'm having trouble with the motor, is it supposed to come out of the hand grip from the bottom or do i take the mecbox out first? Also, I can't figure out how to get the Mechbox out

thanks for all your help so far!
