Good job Ian. New players can learn alot from these, and can improve their squad teamwork and effectiveness.

Nosmo and I have been organizing a small team for a while and we tried using tactics from an Army Rangers manual, but this is much more condensed and should help us out a lot.  Thanks, keep 'em coming.

If you want to learn more about this kinda shit, you need to find a "7-8". its the infantrymans bible. that is where I will be pulling most of this stuff from. The ranger handbook is a good scource, too.

Tomorrow, keep an eye out for Breaking Contact, and Linear Ambushes.

Keep in mind that everything I am showing is the basics. When you get to a unit, the Standard Operating Procedures will change alot, or add alot to what you already know. I will also be adding a section that will contain the definitions of acronyms and other slang terms I might use, and they will be added(alphabetically) as they get used in each "lesson".

Don't be afraid to ask questions, or give me input if you are unclear about something.

Ok thanks a lot, I'll keep an eye out for that book.

Ranger School is a leadership school, not a tactical training school. While a small part of basic combat tactics is contained in the ranger handbook, thats not what the school is about.

That explains a lot.  I thought I was just slow when I tried to read it.  ;)

Basic Battle Tactics has been updated with Linear Ambush.

I know I said I'd throw in break contact, but I don't have the time(barely had time for linear ambush). In the next day or two keep an eye out for that one, along with Reacting to Near Ambush. We will also discuss the difference between a near, and far ambush(take a guess if you'd like...and if you know it, i'll reward you somehow[Doc, keep quiet, you should know this]).

1.) That isn't "basic", becuase I don't know it.

2.) It might be "basic" for you airborne boys...and I'm not jump qualified'

3.) As soon as I find it in the 7-8(if its in there) i'll learn it, and post it(doesn't even sound like a battle tactic).

Its been a LONG time, but the Basic Battle Tactics has been updated with Room Clearing. It is a basic rundown of battle drill 6A. Provide input, throw out questions, do whatever.
