Being prior service Marine Corps, I have flipped out when I see people who have not earned the right to wear MY uniform with an Eagle, Globe and Anchor. Be it the old Cammies, Desert Cammies, or even the new Diggies' (Marpat). If you don't rate to wear the EGA you shouldn't period.

Now being in the Army National Guard and served overseas with them I also don't wanna see people that haven't earned the unit patch, skill tab, crest on a beret, whatever it is on a uniform.

I'm sorry but if you wanna wear MY uniform (any branch of the service) and wear it wrong, thats a no go, if you want to wear it with stuff you didn't earn, that to is a no go.

But if you earned it, wear it. its yours. you rate it. be proud of it.

yeah I noticed that I put 153rd instead of 158th, sorry about that. You all use to be part of the 158th! I was in C Batt 1/180th back when it was OPFOR SP's. Not that it matters in 2009 Arty is going away, gonna be made into the 2nd Infantry Battalion. We're also getting an M.I. unit.

And yeah the word that spread back here was SGT Browning was killed during a QRF mission when they were hit. Word back here at state is 5 others were wounded.

But official word has yet to be passed.

I Have my son this weekend, are you guys camping? I'd like to go but I don't as of yet own an airsoft M-4, The M-4s I own I doubt you guys wanna play with on a 2 way firing range!

I'm looking at buying a Metal M-4 in july when I get my rip. I figure if i'm gonna buy one I'm gonna buy a good one!

If this is a camping weekend let me know and if someone wants to let me barrow a weapon let me know about that too.

If anyone knows Soldiers, with either the 153rd Infantry or B Batt /180th FA. Please give your deepest remorse for one of our fallen Soldiers.

Last weekend we lost Sgt Browning a 2 time volunteer for the Global War on Terrorism was killed in Afghanistan, from an IED.

He was attached to the 153rd Infantry. He was a volunteer from B Batt 2/180 FA out of Tucson, Az. He rose his hand to go again less then 7 months after returning from a 15 month deployment from OIF III.

Sgt Browning was a good Soldier, took care of his troops and was a huge asset to his battery. He was the text book Infantryman, as well as a great Red Leg. His knowledge of weapons systems and troop movement was incredible.

He carried that dedication over to the 153rd Infantry when he volunteered to go, again.

I knew Sgt Bowning personally, I attended 13B school with him, and i did a few field drills with him. He was a good Soldier and my heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

CIF...... heh-heh fellow soldiers, have you ever heard of "field loss" The Guard is great about it! write a note and say oops my bad! And if your in country you can damn near "field loss" everything but your pro-mask and weapon!

Hell since my motorcycle accident I was pulled off the gun line and am now the unit Supply Sgt on drill weekends. I write off everything I can that way my soldiers can get new gear, Gonna have ACH's for all our new guys real soon!

Oh and back to the topic, I hated ironing my cammies in the Marine Corps, when the digi's came out it was great cause no more boots to shine and no more ironing.

I've worn the BDU, the DCU and the ACU my favorite is the ACU, although I haven't wore it while depolyed. Its comfortable and doesn't require much maintince past the break in period.

I don't care about velcro pockets 'cause when we added pockets to our DCU's we had velcro pockets then too. Besides its kinda hard to be stealthy when your in a convoy of 200 trucks. like it was mentioned before I'm sure SF guys wear whatever they want, and what we the Joes have is plenty.

As far as the skill badges and all that other stuff, I never put any of my combat badges or skill badges on any of my DCU's even for coming home, I guess I never cared. you can't see skill badges through an IBA anyway.

I guess thats just the Marine in me, I wear a combat patch now but thats it, I rather not have anything pin-on

The only complant I have is the velcro name tapes, and the fact that you gotta wash them on cold inside out and dry them on very low, cause they shrink bad!

Funny story though, when the ACU's were being issued to units comming in country we thought it would be cool to trade with our replacements DCU's for ACU's 'till we noticed that ACU's meant "rookies" in "steve's" eyes and we quicly traded back.

Yeah the CQB Oakleys are really nice.

When I was last deployed, I went through 5 or 6 different kinda goggles before I settled on something I liked. I just know those ESS suck they are on my ACH but I never use them.

But the same goes with vest's, rig, drop downs....... I haven't yet found the perfect set-up for a SecFor tasked soldier, you know not quite grunt, but deffenitly not a pouge, something in and out of gun truck with ,but able to be self sustaining...... what I'm getting at is each person and each mission is different, get what works for you.

The ESS Land Ops suck unless your up on the gun during a convoy, they fog up way too fast, and they are huge, both versions.

The first version of the wiley x goggles that they issued us in country suck as well, yes they have removable lenses but they are very uncomfortable, and will begin to give you a headache.

From my experince i would recomend an easy on off CQB style safety glasses. oakley has some nice ones with interchangable lenses, or belive it or not some spy motorcross goggles, my gunner overseas wore those while up on the gun.

Yeah thats me in the pic below running convoys during my last tour in the sand box. I was a team leader on a gun truck. and yeah its hotter then an mf'er in the summertime while wearing an iba, snd rolling in a humvee with no ac.

i'm glad to see there are other prior soldiers on here. I'm gonna do my best to make it out to a game. I have drill this weekend but maybe if theres something going on next weekend I can make it out.

Introduce Yourself! / Anyone Military?
« on: May 30, 2007, 06:49:31 PM »
Well I'm not allowed to make a new topic so anyway......

My name is Patrick, I'm prior service Marine Corps and now serve in the Az Army National Guard, I have 4 MOS's 11B (0311), 13B, 88H (3051), 92Y.

If anyone is military have you guys been Mob'd/Deployed? I have 3 tours and no scars!

I'm wondering how many Devil Dogs and Soldiers are out here playing this? Looks kinda fun to me, good way to brush up on skills and sure beats a 2 way firing range to do so.

Anyway I'd like to try this out some weekend, I work in Recruiting so i am busy almost all the time, but would love to check this stuff out, I have my own gear, and uniforms obviously, but if I can make it out to a game can someone lend me a rifle?

Thanks
