x2 on the cat crap, when I first heard the name, I thought I was being trolled. But I bought some and was able to use them to great effect. Now I just use ESS Turbofans if I have to wear goggles, most of the time I just use Oakley M-frames.

Airsoft Items WANTED / Re: WTB: WE 1911 and Hi-Capa Guns and Parts

I've got a broken WE 1911, not sure what's broken internally, but outside it's just got signs of wear. Were you also needing mags for parts or just the gun?

I can bench 405, squat around 600 and do more than 40 pushups in a minute. However I am only currently at a 9 min mile.... so I guess I'm out?
It's more guidelines than actual requirements, like I stated in a previous comment.

I about busted a gut reading the physical fitness requirements, and even more so with Ivan's response. I think what you should get out of the response is that it sounds silly to put in those requirements in the initial post. Don't get me wrong though, I agree that you should have some kind of minimum fitness standard, but I think you should focus more on endurance than strength, after all this is airsoft, not powerlifting :p

Accessories & Gear / Re: Showin off that sexy gear....

I've found that my chest-rig i've had forever works best for me and is comfortable aswell. I dont find it crowded because everything on it has a purpose and i've used the same setup for so long. I wouldn't mind trying out a Battlebelt setup in the future.

I know some people who hardly change their loadouts because they are so comfortable with them. But you know what, why mess with success, if it works great for you, I say stick with it. Me on the other hand, I'm definitely a gear whore, it'd be weird if I didn't divorce my rig every year or so in favor of a newer one.

If you want it right away there is a surplus store at 43rd ave and northern. Northeast corner.

Seconded, I was just there and they even have ATACS (FG version as well) in addition to the new multicam colored digital tiger stripe.

Accessories & Gear / Re: Flash mags=future?
« on: August 23, 2012, 10:04:23 AM »
Ok, for all the mil-sim fanatics, I'm aware that high caps are unrealistic. Thing is, I don't care. If I wanted to know about real caps, I wouldn't have made a topic about flash mags. Not bashing on mil-sim, just don't think this is the place to talk about it.

That's not to say that those people don't use high caps either, but mid cap mags are the de facto standard for the more legitimate, large scale games that the AA regs/vets go to. There's a reason for them using it, and its not to create the impression that mil-sim players are better than speedballers.

Airsoft Items WANTED / Re: WTB vest, 551 or 552 replica eotech

Well the other thing I could suggest is go for jump gear, like paratroopers would use, they already have to put it on top of stuff they have to wear so it is already oversized.

But yeah I was gonna say, the search for BDUs that fit must've been hell, AFAIK the military sizing range stops at people who are 6'5.

So Mr. TheUNIT aka Randy Johnson :p, how's the plate carrier search coming along? I've had some larger people try out my Eagle CIRAS (large sized) but no one ever as tall as you, might I recommend possibly getting customized gear? I know it'll cost more, but I figure you already deal with having to go to big and tall places for clothes already, so this would be nothing new.

Hey Kenny, usually you can find games on the Local Games Listing board, otherwise night games are usually held at Fightertown on the weekends.

I'm not so worried as much about their laws being migrated to us. I'm more worried about the impact it will have on the Airsoft community in the USA if 50+ percent of airsoft supplies are all of the sudden gone.

Actually looking through a record of all my airsoft orders, your statement becomes more poignant. Even though I have a number of online stores that I go to besides the CA based ones, there are a lot of things they can never do. I will miss the selection and the speed with which they ship orders for sure, I will definitely need to plan ahead farther in advance and shop around more. With all the talk of taxes, I'm surprised that California doesn't just put something like a luxury tax on airsoft products, not that I really want it, but I think its much more preferable to outright banning of all airsoft products within California state lines.

General Airsoft Discussion / Re: Thoughts on gillie
« on: August 08, 2012, 03:22:48 PM »
Here's my quick and dirty answer.  A ghille is great if you are willing and prepared to fully commit to the role of sniper/recon.  If not, you will be better off not running one because you will get hot and tired quickly, on top of the fact you probably won't notice any advantage while wearing the ghille for the fact that you are not in the right mindset.

Now here's what I mean.  The sniper role in airsoft and milsim is not about racking up kills at long range. To be effective you are mostly gathering information on objectives, enemy positions and movement. Firefights are not your goal but rather to be avoided at all costs. Sure sometimes you may get a chance to take a shot at that commander or leader but those are few far and between in airsoft and any distance you gained with the sniper fps rules are easily lost within 20-30meters. So if you aren't willing to perform the bread and butter of a recon element, then a ghille is generally not suited for most people. They wouldn't find it useful for what they are trying to accomplish anyways. Sniper/recon is just a different mind set.

Now with all that said, if you just want to look the part then that's cool too. You just may find yourself taking it off later in the day.

I agree and disagree.
I don't know how it is here in Arizona, I'm from California and we're able to use a ghillie effectively and correctly, we can sit and pick players off, here maybe not so much.
Now, as Sarge said snipers in any set, airsoft, milsim, and actual in a combat situation in which I've been.
There is a large recon aspect, that's why a good portion of our Army's Snipers were once Cavalry Scouts, as I was. We are trained for reconnaissance, that's what the 19D does. 80% of the time, it's just covering other soldiers, which I assume the main aspect here would be, just as it was in Iraq. We performed more missions to keep insurgents off the MSR, or to keep soldiers alive, not to pick insurgents off. From what I hear, the sims out here, there really is no recon to be gathered unless there were games further north, or on BLM land where there are a lot more terrain features and foliage. Most of the people it seams out here (and I very well could be wrong) are the teenage 1st shooter style of fighter.

There are still milsim games from time to time, but there are definitely more of the speedball type games out there. Just based off of what you posted here, it sounds like you'd get more out of airsoft if you were with the milsim crowd.

Another aspect I agree on and Mad Sarge is completely correct. If you're not in the right mind set, if you cannot lay in 15lbs of additional material and vegetation in triple digit heat. Stay away. In order for a Ghillie suit to be affective, there's minimal movement and when you do (I've taken 3 hours to move 100 yards to get one shot) It's snail paced.  He's right, you don't run, you stalk. You run (and I used to run 4-6 miles every morning for 5 years) And I won't run more than 200' in a ghillie suit.

If you have doubts just don't do it, if you can't sit in one spot without moving for hours. . . Please don't do it, or you'll get a .36 fired at you.
