Here are some videos I found on private contractors a.k.a. "Mercenaries". There is a debate with foriegn government on who is responsible for the actions of private security contracting companies and what laws apply.
I have always thought that working for a PSD company would be a cool gig. But then you start to really look into the politics behind the actions. Not a good thing. There are close to 70 Private Security companies operating in Iraq as of today. Regulated by another private company. Non of these private security contract companies fall under Iraqi laws. In other words they are free to do what ever they want, when ever they want. They follow no laws in Iraq. Just like the Wild West was. Carry guns and shoot people cause they feel a slight threat or just plain want to shoot something.
Don't get me wrong. I feel there is a place for these companies. But some are operating wrecklessly. In the first video listen to the interview with the former lawyer who now works for a Contractor and gives his point of view, then watch the second video.
Just to let you know I'm
not going to get into a pissing match with anyone about this. Just giving food for thought.
Who knows! You might see my mug in Iraq tuning Haji's.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbgtp-V5t6ghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__r9phvHul0
