Looking To Buy new Gun so...
« on: January 29, 2007, 07:35:51 PM »
Allright so heres the deal. I am debating on a few different guns for medium- long range. I would like an AEG (no sniper rifles) and am debating on either a TM m14, TM Soc 16, G&G GR16-A3, G&G GR16 Carbine, or a CA M4a1, yea kind of undecided. I want a gun that will accept and perform upgraded to shoot 400-450fps w/ tight bore. So thanks in advance guys for helping me out, if you guys could rank what would be your top 3 and why. I got kinda burned when i shelled out like 500 for my ICS to get it to be upgraded, and it doesnt perform that well, so i want to make sure i make the right decision this time.

Thanks

Chris

No G&G, if you want over 400 fps, AA rules indicate that you may not go full auto, so you basically made a sniper rifle. Anything but G&G on that list will do great, and next time, search.

Brando has a G&G R5 that chroned at 402 with .20's out of the box, and let me tell you thats a nice gun just ask SouthPaw... I would go with G&G for their m4's/m16's, TM for the socom16

unless you are planning on upgrading the internals of a g&g, i would go with classic army, even then you should still upgrade it

but if your looking for great internals then go with TM

tm m14 series.  Best stock gun ever and even better when upgraded.

In my opinion CA makes better AR-15s than TM, but the TM M14's out perform the CA guns out of the box when both are in stock form.

The only downside of the Tm m14s is that they are REALLY complicated to work on internally, but if you do upgrade one, it will shoot beautifully and you really only need to spend like, 100 bucks on the parts where as you whould have to spend more on upgrading a TM AR-15 to the same level of performance.

I'd also like to say the M14 simply because I'm sick of seeing so many Armalites (Armalites refering to all M16 look alikes).  Before I upgraded my TM it was working amazingly.  It out ranges most stock AEG's and some upgraded AEG's.  If your looking for an electric sniper rifle anyways I'd get the full length m14 and watch everyone be filled with fear of the 7.62 death! :D

I would go with a TM M14 or if you want to be really cheap, an exact replica of a TM M14 (Chinese-made AEGs have improved some). The TM M14 is highly accurate and has great range and a multitude of uses. The only possible downside is the size of the gun or its stock, which feels "toyish."

On a side note; topics asking for help such as this should be accepted. Every few months there are new products or new issues arise that new or potential airsofters should find out about before choosing a gun. Obviously, though, if a similar topic had been started the week before, it should just be resurrected.

Yes, and i generally do not make these kinds of posts. I'm just going through the forum to see if i can get their opinion in my final stages of buying a gun.

I have a tm m14 I pre orderd it and everything I love m14's and wanted one so I have the first batch and man I cnat tell you how much it ROCKS I love it never even had a jam in it. probably 25k rds through it I also have a CA CQB that I have a 120 and pom tightbore I love it too If I were to only have one AEG It would definitly be the CQB I have OUTSTANDING range and accuracy proably superior to even the legandary TM M14. Both are awesome guns. The reason I prefer the cqb is because its so easy to handle and the upgrade and accesories are so easy to come by. also buy MAG mags I love them and if you loose one its no big deal only like 6 bucks a pop 8) Hope this helped.

Out of curiosity, what is wrong with your ICS?  $500 is enough to replace all of the internals at which point you have a standard AEG only with the convience of a split gear box.  I am currently using an ICS gearbox and body on my gun.  In the lower I have a System Super Torque Up Motor and Full Systema 120 (pulled from the System complete kit) internals.  I have 2 Uppers and Front ends for the guns, one sniper and one CQB.  I like it, I would never get a different M4 varient.

That said, I agree with Whiskey, every body and their mom has an M4 varient.  Get the M14 (or get your existing gun working).  Last AA game I went to it seemed like Spaz and I had P-90's and everybody else had M4's.  If you have to get an M4, at least do something to it to make it stand out.

Xavier people here havent truely recognized ICS as a legitamate company as too many have had the older versions that are less reliable.  My 2006 ICS is running awesomely and got me a good number of kills at the game on the 28th at Four Peaks.  I love my ICS to death and no one can say bad compression because I have an M110 spring w/ bearing spring guide and stock piston and piston head that is shooting .23's out at 370 fps...
