Do you know what he's referring to?
Crye's Multi-cam combat shirt

I've never seen that before. Now I get what he meant. In any case... I assume that the idea was for the gear to complete the camo pattern, in both cases, correct?

IBAs and the new IOTVs aren't only plate carriers.  There's soft armor in them as well.  I've never worn an IOTV seeing as how well, a lot of people down range haven't even gotten them, but I do wear an IBA.

I'm actually looking forward to being issued some of these but I must admit, the whole Army Strong thing on the chest is absolutely hilarious...

And yes, the gear is supposed to complete the camo pattern.  Basically, the idea of this combat shirt is to improve air circulation and keep the soldier cool when wearing his IBA or IOTV.

I already saw this in person, except by the marine corps. It was the Crye style pants(with kneepads), and shirt(with elbow pads) in Desert MARPAT. Surprised the hell out of me. Then the guy sped off in a tan motorcycle.

I think there are 2 reasons for this thing, it gets hot with all of the gear, and this takes a layer of clothing away, and the other reason is the tan shirt catches fire and melts to your skin in about 2 seconds.  That's the reason why we are authorized to wear the damn marine green shirts.  Anyways, I have to agree with Firehead, the army strong logo is a bit much, and we'll never be allowed to wear the shirt unless we're wearing our IBAs anyway.

The OD shirts at the MCSS here on BAF are SOFFEEs brother, with poly content.

The FR shirts we have, like the ones you were issued with your A2CUs, are 100 percent cotton, Foliage Green in color.  They're never in stock here because HQ pukes snatch them up before those of us who can wear them get a chance.

With regards to the ACS, I see it as a good thing.  The IOTV is a step in the right direction.  I just hope the quality isn't lost when made by current OTV makers like SDS and PBBA.

Don't think of it as a knockoff of the Crye shirt.  Keep in mind the very reason the Crye shirt exists, and you'll understand this as a realization of a much-researched concept.

The logo will probably come off after one cycle in a KBR laundry machine.
