I heard that they are a pain in the butt to upgrade.  Haven't messed around with one yet, but i'd rather spend a bit more and get something that is likely going to last a bit longer.

i heard that too. but what i would do is just buy an echo 1 rifle and just spend 250 bucks on a complete systema gear box, if i wanted to upgrade it. and im sure the total amount of money would be the exact if not, close to the amount i would be spending on a stock marui or any other brand name guns. but thats just me of course.

Do they have metal or plastic bodies to them.  personally, i try to stay away from anything with a plastic body.

If your going to just buy a new gearbox for it you might as well just buy a better gun.  But it depends on what people like and what works for them at the time of purchase.

The receivers are plastic on all of their guns...just like a TM, hence them being considered a TM clone.

They have both. Fiberglass though.

SRC guns are great. They join with TSD and produce great guns. I have the TSD/SRC M16A4, it comes stock upgraded.

Metel gearbox, gears, shims, bushings. M100 spring. Shoots 325FPS stock. Very great. Metal body too. Not the best, but very nice, and good for beginners.

The bodies of the entire M16 line are NOT fiberglass...they are ABS plastic. As are the G36 and MP5 lines. I have no idea about the AK or M14 series, haven't handled either. The M16, G36 and MP5 are all rebranded Jing Gong guns, these guns have ABS plastic receivers.

AK-47: Metal, ABS plastic. But the stock of the gun... It's kind of plasticy, but not that bad. I doubt it would break though. It's a nice gun.

M14: All metal insides/outside(such as bolt, sights, ect.). The body of the gun though is fiberglass body, or a rubber fiberglass body. It's like a  grip fiberglass. VERY sturdy though.

You are talking about the Echo 1 G36C? It LOOKS and FEELS like fiberglass, but trust me, It is just thick, textured ABS.

When I got my first Echo 1 G36 in stock I thought it might be fiberglass too...but a quick question to the distributor later I found out that it too is ABS.

From my understanding, the TM G36C (which the E-1 is a clone of) is also ABS. The only fiberglass G36 line is the CA line.
