Event questions
« on: January 04, 2008, 01:41:05 PM »
I'm curious about how I would go about running my own events and how AA would be involved in those events. Never really done an outdoor event before, but I'd love to have a crack at it.

Anyone out there have some advice or information? Also, have I completely missed a topic like this already? (Knowing me.. Probably...)

Thanks folks!

Well, there really isn't "rules" per say about running your own events.  That said, my recommendations would be:

1) Make sure the scheduling doesn't conflict with another game
2) Try to use one of the common places (IE Four Peaks, SASCO).  If you can't use one of those places (or don't want to) make sure it's out of the way and you have permission to use the land
3) Depending on what type of crowd you want involved you might want to use AA game play rules (IE FPS limits etc).
4) Plan as much as possible before hand.  Gameplay type, scenario (if any), teams, etc.
5) Try to give a reasonable amount of warning before hand (IE don't post on Friday announcing a game that Sat).

If you are talking about hosting an Official AA game, I don't think you can do that but I would wait for an "official" response on that.

AA is simply a place for all groups/teams/orgainzations to come together and discuss games/guns/gear/events.

Hosting a game is easy, getting people to attend your game is hard.

Get a date, a place, a time, construct of who is running it, a timetable of events (start, end, objectives, outcomes), a story, team identification (who is on what side and how do you know), historical background is good but not nessisary. make sure rules are stated and enforced.
Post it up and ask people to attend. be careful not to put it on dates of other games or national events.

Are there any 'popular' areas that are well-known and 100% legal to play on located near Phoenix? (Near being less than an hour's drive)

(Sorry to jack your topic Atrus)

Four Peaks is a popular location.  It's pretty isolated, and I believe it's national park so the land is government owned.

Shooting has never been a problem when I'm there.  I think they guys here used to call and clear it with the sheriff first, but not even that anymore.

It is owned by a development company and is now posted no trespassing.  Police have been out a couple of times and run people off, airsofter and paintballers alike.  :(

The TAC board is trying to find a way for us to have access to the area.

Bushnell Tanks, Mt. Ord, Florence, there are several places. You should search around the event postings for AO's.

Hmm well for some small skirmishes the GA field on Higley and Guadalupe behind Walgreens is a great area. Theres a HUGE hill with tons of forst and desert like cover. Not a bad area but really only capable for a 15v15 match TOPS.
