JG Bar-10
« on: April 07, 2008, 07:52:33 PM »
Is this a good gun? Ive read reviews, but can't really make a choice. I mean it looks good, from what Ive seen it shoots good, its upgradeable, and is a sniper :P I love snipers. So i'm either going to get this and a GNBB pistol or a Echo 1 G36C. I'm not sure yet though.

Yeah, it is a good gun.  It isn't too fast and cutting the air break doesn't help too much. We cut it down to a little less than half of the original length and re lubed the piston and its only shooting 370 with .25 bbs.  It is pretty accurate though, but you will need a new spring to make it a competitive gun.  You might as well get a UTG L96.

The G-Spec has a shorter barrel. I wouldn't want to sacrifice that on a sniper rifle.  At least get the normal BAR-10.

If you want, airsoft Gi, (airsoftgi.com), has a load of m58's in their broken/referbished section, for about 25-30 dollars. It is hailed as a decent sniper for the price new, (100$). Referbished/broken may be taking a risk but It might be worth it to you if you end up with a good 30$ spring sniper. They also have a lot of referb/broken UTG master snipers and super 9's, which kind of suck, but hey... Maybe it would be worth it to you to gamble 30$, maybe not...  Just giving you a heads up and info, as the broken/referb items usually go quickly over there. If you are willing to take a chance and maybe put some time into one as a project gun, the reslts could pay off, or maybe you would get one that works from the start, whatever. Thought you might like to know.

Also!!! The JG sniper is very good for the pice, and though it may need some assembly, works quite well.

I looked at that, but that seems a little too big. I just want a small beretta or 1911

The G-Spec has a shorter barrel. I wouldn't want to sacrifice that on a sniper rifle.  At least get the normal BAR-10.

Barrel lengths past MP5 length do not add any furthur accuracy.  This has been beaten into the ground millions of times on international forums by several respected members.  At G-Spec Lengths a tightbore is going to do you more good than a longer barrel.  Accuracy is more a function of barrel diameter and hop up consistency then it is barrel length so if you were to go anywhere with upgrades get a new hop up rubber (hell even chamber) and a 6.01 tightbore and bam you've got accuracy down as good as it's going to get.

The Bar10 isnt too bad, thought about picking one up myself but I much prefer the L96 style guns to the M40's and M24's.  I didnt get the UTG L96 though I bought the Warrior1 (made by well ironically)  and I'm sure that while Vince doesnt want to admit it, for 140$ it's a pretty damn good performer (thats 140$ shipped)  I think a good majority of CT was impressed considering how little it actually costs.  So far, mine is still going strong ^_^

Quick question for BAR-10 owners..... i ordered a TSD m700 from blazingtoys..... they ended up being out of the tan colored version they were going to send me, so they told me they would send a black version.... when i opened it up i was kind of suprised, I think they sent me a JG BAR-10.  It was in a TSD box... but it has a manual marked BAR-10, the gun says "Made By JG works", the barrel is threaded on the inside and the end cap is metal and not plastic (ive read the TSD is plastic), also the finish is rubberised, and it doesn't have the same cocking lever that the TSD has in pictures (TSD has a flat cocking lever) it has a dimond patterned oval shaped cocking lever like the JG does in pictures. I'm really not mad if it is a bar-10 (its a better gun anyway :P... and a $120 gun for $60 shipped is ALWAYS a good deal) i just want to know if this matches the description of a BAR-10 or if the TSD M700 is the same or something.  I'll just be happy they tried to pull a fast one with a JG and not a UTG   ....

Well, if it says "made by J. G. Works" that pretty much answers your question.
