Airsoft Hand Grenades
« on: June 22, 2008, 09:59:16 PM »
Are the Airsoft Hand Grenades worth it?
I don't mean the kind of grenades you put in an M203, I mean like a pineapple style grenade.
I've seen them on all kinds of airsoft sites, and always wondered about their effectiveness.
I also figured the chances of me losing a 50 dollar hand grenade in the desert is moderately high.
Do they even have good blast patterns either?
Anyways, tell me your experiences with them.

I believe that the blast radius 15 feet. I would also color it bright orange or something like that.

Makes sense.
Do you have any?
If so, what brand?

If you would use the search function at the top-right of the boards you would find many topics discussing hand grenades.
Generally speaking, reusable grenades look and sound somewhat impressive but BBs don't necessarily blast out in all directions at high velocities--they tend to plop out. They are also dangerous unless thrown along the ground.

Tennis ball + orange streamer = grenade

Lose one, make another.

Yeah. I use solid rubber grenades with a red streamer.  I throw, then I yell "Bang".  Simple.

Yes, there are other topics but none that answer the questions I had.
So think before you mini-mod.
And please be a little more specific with your last sentence?

No one wants to get hit in the head with a big ass grenade. That is what he was trying to say.

... Honestly the idea of someone getting smacked in the head with a hunk of metal made me giggle.

Just in case you do decide to go ahead and get grenades or make grenades keep one thing in mind know your target before you throw it. Last BAS game we had 4 teammates blown up by a friendly grenade, how that worked I dont know.

Reminds me of something somebody told me once. "When the pin is pulled, mr. grenade is nobodies friend" I think it was from Call of Duty.
Anyways, I plan on buying them one at a time over time. At 40 bucks each minimum, I figure I'll have a whole of 5 set after two months. Can I use red gas in them?

Not sure how necessary an airsoft hand grenade would be in combat, but I suppose it could add a certain element to the battle. I just hope they are made of plastic and not metal. Wouldn't want one to land on my head.

I use 'em for more of a room clearing thing.  If you throw one in the open, and it doesn't actually "explode" with BBs, then it can get sketchy with calling it.

Maybe if you only used pistols and grenades it might be better. But what's the point of having all these aeg's if someone can just toss a grenade in the room you and your guys are in and say "Bang, you're all dead."?
