newbie wants opinion on possible airsoft purchase
« on: July 11, 2008, 04:51:40 PM »
ok, i'm thinking about buying a non blowback pistol modeled after a western style revolver. it holds about 24 rounds and can only be fired when the hammer is pulled back, anyone with an opinion about this pistol, please contact  me and advise me [smilie=armata_pdt_41.gif]  .

If you plan to actually use it I would say no. If you want it to plink around with and look at then go for it. Get a TM 1911 or a KWA/KSC Glock if you plan to use it, but even then you will probably just use your AEG.

I had a revolver once.  From a novelty perspective, it was pretty cool.  It does not make a very practical side arm.  Revolvers have a lot of moving parts, and this can cause it to break more often.

Airsoft revolvers have several drawbacks. However, I have seen them raise morale and make your squad leader look like a bad ass.
They aren't good for airsoft combat, but are very fun plinkers.
I bought one of those 20 dollar spring airsoft revolvers and it is my favorite plinker.

This topic was about airsoft revolvers, not real ones. Read the heading.  Though I imagine real revolvers might have the same issue.  A real revolver would have more moving parts than a traditional handgun I imagine.  Though this is pure speculation on my part.  Next time you quote me, actually quote me. Don't paraphrase.  I said they CAN break more often, not that they always do.  I thought my message was pretty clear, and certainly more eloquently worded.

Don't suck up. Also from an informational standpoint revolvers are one of the most reliable handguns in the world. Morgann0, how can they have more moving parts, there are semi-automatic with a very simple mechanism, ever seen the internals of a real Glock? And those are considered to have very few parts.
As to the airsoft variety, they are mainly a novelty, sure, some may be more accurate then others, but, a good replica will only hold 5-6 shots. Fun: Definately Cool: Opinion leans towards Yes Practical: ......
Your choice.

I can't speak on the internals of real weapons, but keep in mind, every time a revolver is fired, the gun must rotate the chamber in preparation for the next shot.  Not to mention many gas revolvers are powered by an internal gas chamber.  If this were to be damaged, the repair would go beyond a new o ring or a new magazine I imagine.  In regards to the small moving parts in airsoft revolvers, I said that because that is something I was told a few years back when I owned one.
