Yeah, it hurt.  But at least I didn't get all emo and have a medic called over so the game could be paused for 20 minutes while my buddy tells everyone that the hit could be heard all the way across the valley.  Pussies.

It was fun.  The new guy that designed this years action did a great job in my book.  The action was a little sparse though because each sides objectives were not managed to go one at the same time.  This was how it was intended though.  It was a BIG departure from the micro-management of last years event which really sucked IMO.  There was still the 3rd "shadow force" aspect which I hate so much, but it was made better by the fact that it was stated very early on that there would be NO negotiating with them - they were always bad guys.

They pretty much gave us a pile of stuff to do and allowed us to prioritize how and when we wanted to do them.

Sunday was a big gunfight though.  Simple objectives on the more exciting terrain of the field.  There was an unexpected Alpha-Bravo alliance negotiated by both task force commanders at the very end of the fighting on Sunday.

How was this years event any ways?

I thought it took way too long to get started. After 4 hours of marching around we only saw one sniper/scout unit. Nobody knew what was going on including several game control staff we talked to. The second part of day one was a blast though!

As for day two... we had a bunch of deusche-bag Alpha guys camping 20 feet behind our permanent spawn point shooting us before we could even get back into the game. It took way too long to get that whole situation sorted out. It was fun after that mess was eventually sorted out. They did an o.k. job for their first year i guess, even though there were no "fast and furious" special ops missions that they claimed would happen.

I spoke with some players from alpha and the problem seemed to be that when we got orders to go up, they had orders to go down. That was why we never saw each other for those 4 hours, we were always on opposite ends of the mountain. It did bug me that the game control staff either didn't have maps or didn't know what was going on, but I guess it could've been worse. Once the action picked up though I just forgot all about that stuff.
