brushless motors?

from my understanding they have longer run times, less matinence, more reliable, and more torque than traditional brushed motors. so why have companies not lookes into this technology..

I thought the same thing myself, since RC cars and planes have already made that transition. However, brushless motors are shaped a bit differently than normal motors they are usually alot shorter and fatter. And also the amount of torque that it puts are so incredibly high that normally for RC planes they dont even require any gearboxes, the props are attached directly to the shaft. Im thinking airsoft hasnt made that transition yet because it would require a complete redesign of a normal gearbox, and since brushed motors are still realtively reliable and cheap they figured it wasnt worth it

a cool project would be to get a working prototype brushless gearbox.. just a thought for all you tech guys haha  :roll:

Brushless motors also require a control module which no one has taken the time to figure out where to put.  They can be pretty small but again the airsoft world is 10-15 years if not more behind the RC world at any given time.
