as for the grenade topic, i will no longer be allowing grenades of any sort, dummy or otherwise.

I don't think anybody had a problem with frags... Maybe you should focus more on engagement distances for snipers? That seemed to be a bigger problem. Just a suggestion.

they shouldnt be out there with a sniper rifle if they dont understand engagement rules or have a sidearm. just my opinion. no excuse for shooting somebody in the face point blank with a sniper rifle.

they only got close due to the confusion on the ones i was throwing around...i cleared it up befor the game started the the exploding hand gernades were ok to use...the dummy ones were not due to wieght issues...the ones i used only way an couple ounces or so...and frags are apart of ever combat situation and should be aloud to be use in milsim games...maybe not team death matches and all but milsims...cmon its a war simulation....if your afraid of a gernade landing on your head then you shouldnt be playing a milsim unless the milsim isnt truely a military simulation....just my opinion...the day was great and the bbq was awsome so no complaints here...

Sorry for being a dick about this...i'm just pissed i got shot point blank with a sniper rifle, and then as i was walking away in frustration because of no one getting out even though some of them were shot by me, i got shot in the back by two other guys.

I agree again. I would be mad if I got shot point blank with a sniper as well. I would like to see AA start having sniper qualifications in order to use sniper rifles to stop new players from using them in an irresponsible way. I can see your argument regarding the sniper rifles and I can see the confusion that may over come many new players which is where the whole sniper problem is coming from. Playing a sniper roll in airsoft has many added rules and regulations that are over coming for new players. The airsoft field is a hectic, confusing place. Couple that with the added responsibilities of playing a sniper roll is simply to much for new players.

Now on to the frag issue. With the amount of new players that were attending i feel that jacob did the right thing not allowing dummy grenades but only allowing grenades that launch projectiles. its easy specially for new players to get frustrated and start a confrontation with some one over the ten foot blast radius of a frag as well as what is and isn't cover from a frag but when you use an actual fragmenting grenade your either hit or not. Same rules apply to the water balloons that are often seen as artillery at rebel union. Your either get hit with water or you don't. It seems that the use of dummy grenades at an event of this size would have been counter productive and only created confrontations that aren't needed.

The only problem with this is that most "snipers" in airsoft are kids that play too much Call Of Duty. They're young, stupid, and they have no money so they buy a cheap Spring sniper rifle. ( Ex. JG Bar-10 ) Without any upgrades and they think they are a sniper. How do you plan on "qualifying" these people?

AA has nothing to do with setting field rules. Thats up to whoever is running the game.

The problem is you are confusing Rebel Union with AA.  I think the last AA game I went to (60ish people IIRC) had 2 people with a bolt action rifle on a huge field (4 peaks).  The last RU game I went to (20ish people) also had 2 people with bolt action rifles on a small field.  The fact that snipers are WAY overrated in airsoft is moot.  Unless RU is playing on a different field than last time (entirely possible) it's a far too small a field to need "snipers".  Unfortunately I missed this particular game, but I've already heard complaints from two other people that did go that there were guns shooting far too hot for that field.  That's why many organized events chrono guns before hand.  Most also have an enforced MED.

I respect that RU wants a laid back feel to their events.  I have no problem with that in the slightest, it's your choice how you want to run your games.  But the bigger you guys get, the more problems like this you are going to have.  Unless you are playing on a much bigger field than before (once again you may be), you need to start enforcing chrono's.  At the very least on sniper rifles and/or spot checks on questionable guns.

Getting shot in the back when you are out is a fact of life in airsoft.  It sucks, but it happens.  But when it's happening with guns shooting far too hot and from far too close that's when fights are going to break out.  If somebodies shooting someone point blank with a sniper rifle, he needs to be removed from the game.  Period.  That's bad for the game, bad for the group, bad for the sport.  It's one thing when it's just a small group of friends, it's another thing when you have other people there.

That's my thought anyways.
