Me + fogged goggles = unhappy me
« on: February 02, 2010, 08:51:07 AM »
I'm sure this topic has been discussed before but I just have to do it:  I cannot, for the life of me, keep my goggles from fogging up.  I've tried toothpaste, dish soap, spit with no luck.    Any ideas?

FogTech wipes, OpDrops, Cat Crap in the short term.

New goggles (Bolle T800 or ESS Profile TurboCams) in the long term.

Basically it comes down to the amount of ventilation your goggles have. The more air circulation the better.

If you’re unhappy enough with your current goggles to buy new ones, I’d recommend the Bolle T800 like Vince. They never fog and they’re low profile.
They’re pretty damn sexy too.

I have ESS Profile with prescription inserts. I don't have the turbo fan, but when I do play (however infrequent it is) I use FogTech wipes without issue.

I have flak jacks, Wiley X and the t800's. The 800's worth every penny I spent on them.

what i did in the past was i drilled holes in the upper pastic, not in the lens but around the surrounding pastic areas that held it in place. im not sure which goggles you have. but the one i had i took it apart from a paintball mask.

I have the flaks in tan. I'm going to try that drilling trick. I have been using a bandanna at the forehead to angle some air vents. Basically pulls the mask away a littke allowing more airflow. Seems to work but I want a better look. I also wear glasses..how do I get prescription lenses?

You probably need a prescription insert but that would have to be made by the company.

However, Arena Flakjaks aren't made for people with glasses.

So they don't have one. :(

Best bet for something like that are ESS. Ideally some Turbocam Profiles.

Vince is 100% correct on this one.

I can chime in here because I just went through the same debate..I wear a pretty mild rx (-1.0, -1.25) and debated whether to get goggles or glasses with RX.. I ended up going with an Oakley Flak jacket setup with RX lens' because of the optical clarity and better field of view. Just remember when wearing goggles with rx inserts, you will only get a small area of view with your prescription, so any peripheral will be blurred.

What did the ESS goggles run you with the Rx inserts?
