WE PDW vs. KJ M4
« on: April 27, 2010, 10:04:56 PM »
I am looking to invest in either the WE PDW or the KJ M4, but I am not sure which is better. I like the style of the WE PDW a bit more, but I am worried that the barrel length might be too short. Since accuracy is an important factor, I feel the M4 may be the better choice. But tell me what your opinions are on everything. WE PDW or KJ M4?

guns can be upgraded.

my 270mm CQB M4 now has a 455 with a silencer on it.  shoots like an M16.

Just spoke with a friend who recently got the PDW and said he loves it.  While he hasn't chronoed it yet he stated that he was accurately hitting up to 200' and aside from that stated that he couldn't believe that the mags weren't leaking.  He's only had it afew weeks but was really impressed with it.

Not sure on the WE other than WE has a terrible track record for reliability out of the box.
As far as the KJW, well, all I can say is its badass. Reliable, can use AEG front sets with minimal modification, and runs out smooth. Range with a few inexpensive Cradle Airsoft mods ie: TBB, velocity reducer(yes you will need one with the KJW on GG) and CNC piston is excellent. My barrel is only a 300mm and it gets out 150 - 200ft easy and accurately, for an airsoft gun that is.

And for your reading pleasure:
Read Raven1's review
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25288&start=0

There is an extensive thread on Arnies forum on the KJW and a short one on the PDW also. The PDW is pretty new and there isnt too many reviews out for it yet.

Is there a difference in reliability or FPS in either gun?

From what I have read the PDW is hitting at about 450. My KJW was about 490. I think the PDW is to new to tell about the reliability but Raven1 has intentionally beaten the hell out of his KJW and it keeps on kicking. PLUS the guy that makes the performance upgrades is from here. They have customer service like you wouldn’t believe!!!!!!  http://cradleairsoft.com/Cradle_Airsoft/Home.html

I prefer the looks of the PDW just because the classic M4 look seems a bit repetitive and over-rated. However, I am willing to put up with, what I believe is a somewhat ugly gun, if it is better. And what makes it shoot 40fps faster? Is it simply the longer barrel length or is there an internal part making it shoot faster?

The factory fps differences may just be in the design. The BCG on the KJW is unique compared to the KA, WE, AGM. From what I have read its more efficent than most of the other platforms. 60 to 90 rounds off one gas charge in most cases. Some have claimed more.
My opinion is biased though because I only own the KJW. With the 390-400 fps setting on my velocity reducer, I get 60 rounds easy with gas to spare.

Found this for you too:

Most M4's look like POO till you add a few toys to it. This is not mine but I am getting closer to this look...... I don't know about you but I DON'T think this is an ugly gun:

I agree, that is a good looking M4. However, I still like the looks of the PDW more especially because it is not as common. But I still can't figure out which is more bang for the buck.

If you are serious and really want to get one, send me a PM. I will meet you at Gearbox and you can look at my KJW.  So at least you have looked at the gun and can help in your decision

When it comes to looks go for what you like!

As you asked for a comparison of the WE to the KJW M4 then the KJW is Much More Reliable BY Far!

I know a bunch of guys over at Gas Guns Info (where I am a Super User/Lower Level Mod) and they spend money on their guns Everytime out just to keep it running.  Mags cost $20 more up to 2 X as much as the KJW M4.

But if you have money to keep spending on a gun to keep it running - Even more frequently if you plan to upgrade it - and having to keep a back up AEG on hand as you can't really be sure if the gun will keep running all day, much less than all weekend like at a Big Op.

Again - ONLY Speaking of reliability between WE PDW and KJW M4,,,
