FPS Rules, Upgrades needed, overall help
« on: September 04, 2010, 03:50:38 AM »
Howdy guys,

I am trying to build a M110 Marksman Rifle like found in the military. Now, since this is airsoft, and everything is 6mm, the base of this project will be a M16A4.

My questions are, how do you make a full auto rifle into a semi auto only weapon? Also, what are the FPS Limits for semi auto only? And what internals would I need to build a reliable high FPS weapon?

Thank you in advance

John

Well to make a full auto into a semi only involves cutting the selector plate (don't ask me how I don't know) as for the fps limit it varies from game host to game host. I have seen the limit from 450fps to 600fps.

My 0.02 is that in addition to what your building stick with an M140 spring and that should guarentee you that your gun will be within limits for 90% of the games

In some guns, like my ca m14 all you need to do is take out the selector switch and it just holds on semi automatic.

in m4/m16/sr25 base guns, you simply have to cut a the 'hump' that disengages the semi-auto cutoff lever off, and you can't fire in full auto anymore.

If you're building an m110, why not start with an SR25 so that you have the correct mags and a much much closer looking receiver?

FYI, the proper base for an M110 would be an SR-25.  Depending on brand, that would also solve the selector problem.

In regards to the FPS limits, you are usually going to be looking at 450-500fps for a semi auto rifle.

Thanks for the tips guys.

As for the SR25, most of the ones I was looking at (with my limited internet time) all show that there is no front sight post. I'll keep looking into it.

front sight is an easy change... and some of the E1 SR-25's already have a front sight post, and lots have a weaver gas block so you can mount a folding sight post.
