Quick question about mesh masks.
« on: April 18, 2011, 09:29:39 PM »
Could I use a mask with mesh eyeholes if I wore a pair of sealed goggles underneath? I mean at places like MTT UAC, FighterTown, FortAdobe, and so forth.

i dont use mesh mask just for trust reasons, but i would think (like you said) if you wore some shatter proof glasses or shooting glasses under it than u should be fine.

If you are wearing sealed eye protection underneath, you have met the eye pro requirements. So it doesn't really matter what you put OVER that.

I have to point out, I've played airsoft while wearing a fencing mask (For those of yo who don't know, they're made of steel mesh about the same grid size as the average airsoft mesh mask, just thicker. Goggles underneath, of course), and bbs hitting the mask had a nasty tendency to shatter - left me bleeding in several places even under the mask. I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather get hit in the face a couple times than be sliced up by bb shards.

BB's shattering on fencing masks (or any mesh masks) is rare, in my experience.  Usually limited to Bio BB's.

...but is it worth the risk of losing an eye.
Harmful heat in my hugs hide,My lips are laced with cyanide
Never mind my medicine breath,Come hither for a kiss of Death...
Where there once were feely fingers, Now protrude poisonous stingers
Feel I'm left with no recourse,But to kill her with no remorse

I wouldn't, they can replace teeth and BBs can be pulled out of skin, but there isn't much in the way of replacing your eyes, when they're gone, they're gone.
