Poll Airsoft Team Competition.
« on: April 24, 2011, 08:07:13 PM »
We have been juggling the idea for a few months and wanted to get your opinion. This event will be held at fighter town on field 3 and will be a force on force competition with prizes for winning brackets. Here is the info, if we get enough hits we will run a trial to see how it works out and then the grand event. The event is geared towards teams however single players are allowed to attend and will be assigned to a team

Squad Competition
4 or 5 team members ___4 ___5
Double-elimination or Single-elimination ___D ___S

Rules reguarding guns.
1. 400 fps. rifles (M4, M1, AK, AUG, M16)
2. 400 fps. handguns
3. 400 fps. sub guns (P90, MP5, MAC, UMP)
4. You may use any or all of your guns.
Any rifle that shoots 2 bb's with one pull of a trigger will be considered a automatic, and can not fall under the sniper rifle. (If you have a selector switch it will not be considered a sniper rifle.)

Crono Rules
1. All guns used WILL be cronographed.
2. A guns fps will be determined by a 3 shot average.
3. Testing will be done by our staff, using our bb's (.20)
2. They will be taged. (any tampering or removing tags will result in expulsion from the contest(cheating))

Knife Kills
1. All knife's will be approved by staff.
2. NO face or neck hits, no throwing knife's at people.
3. You must have a knife to make a knife kill.
4. You must remove the knife from the sheath and make contact, for a kill.
5. This will give them a chance to shoot you.

Grenade use and kills
1. Grenade's can only be used once, in a match. (If you carry 1, then you only get to throw 1. If you carry 2, then you only get to throw 2. If you carry 3, then you only get to throw 3. ect...)
2. All dummy grenades will have a 10 feet kill zone.
3. Grenades that throw BB's, MUST hit a player to count.
4. Sound based grenades, must go off to count. (If you toss a Thunder B, and they run for cover, then it goes boom, no kill.)
5. No home made grenades, will be considered.
6. Military surplus dummy grenades can NOT be used.
7. Thunder B's, Deep fire, Firepower Palco, AI Tornado, Snicker's 360, Escort grenades, Madbull grenades, TMC grenades, G&G grenades, PFI grenades, RAP4, cidasoft grenades, Matrix grenades, Pro arms grenades, A&K grenades

Ever see or hear of the old AMSOG CQB challange?

Also, normally pistols are 300 ish because they are replacing AEGS in cqb for safety. The fact that you would set the bar so high to accommodate someone you know with a 500fps pistol, is highly reminiscent of what happened to Ron at Vanguard a while back.

Perhaps a face off with a few reliable teams to see which unit could out play the other would be fun, but, a pay to play entry contest.....?
Your just asking for non-hit callers.

The 500 fps for pistols/ bolt actions was something i meant to take out of the original idea.

As far as people cheating/ not calling hits there will be reff's and game officials/ judges overseeing the event and each team as they compete

I don't think I'd attend a competition for prizes because that's just calling for cheaters. Even with refs and staff overseeing the event they can't watch everybody for every second of the game unless you have enough refs and staff to follow each player during the game and even then there could still be cheaters. Airsoft is already competitive enough and adding prizes for teams that win is just calling for cheaters.

What if the FPS was lowered a bit and everyone could only were a t-shirt and shorts and a mask? Then you could tell if they are shot A-by screams/yells,B-by red welts.

I'm not sure that would help a whole lot. Personally I don't scream or yell or say anything other than hit when I'm hit and it's also hard to tell if I have a welt if im shot from 40+ ft away unless you run your finger over the area I was shot and I dont exactly want somebody touching me the entire time, but that's just me.

Then you shouldn't participate in this competition...

No mater what being it a prize game or just for fun, any organized sport will have people cheating. there will be plenty of staff including the staff who are playing civilians in the killhouse and the staff above on the catwalks. we also will be filming the event  so we will be able to keep a close eye on everyone. Also we have done some research and these competitions are extremely common in other states lets show everyone else that Arizona Airsofters can be just as good of sports ans everyone else and that the sun and heat hasn't driven us crazy

As long as there is good reffing and a keen eye out for cheaters, I think it would be a blast.

I understand there are cheaters with out prizes, I've played with some and still do on occasion, I'm just saying more than likely adding prizes will cause more cheating than normal. It does sound fun, don't get me wrong but not something I'm interested in if there are a lot of cheaters, at least not this first one. If you guys post some reviews from refs and players perspective of how this plays out, that would give plenty of people on here a chance to change their mind about these competitions.
