Well you really shouldn't be carrying around a handgun openly on your hip, leg, or what ever. That's just looking for trouble. Only military and police should be allowed to "openly carry", because they're actually providing a service. Open carrying civilians are just showing off. Plus it allows the "bad guys" to know what you are packing and know where it is.

Ya'll kids shouldn't be carrying around guns openly anyway. It just looks ridiculous. Get a 9mm compact pistol and put it on your ankle under your pants. Or just stick it in your pocket or something, but for experienced firearm handlers like myself, keep it concealed. And wait until you're actually old enough to BUY and OWN a firearm before you talk about openly carrying one.

Let me guess... You carry a glock .40?

For anyone who doesn't get the reference:

You are what's wrong with America. You are probably ok with banning certain types of weapons too - cause civilians have no right owning "those baaaad guns".

It's statements like this that help us lose ground on our second amendment rights.

You may be comfortable handing over your liberties casually but I refuse with contempt!

I can and will wear my pistol/ shotgun /rifle wherever I please.  I am not providing a "service" or trying to show off.  I am protecting me and mine and those around me that cannot protect themselves.

I urge you to get a better sense of the "big picture" and leave the herd of other sheep.

Dude you have to be the biggest tool as of yet.

The second you put your hand on that pistol on your leg some guy will shoot your stupid ass. Even if your just scratching your leg.

Then we can all laugh at your Darwin award.

Seconded.
Plus I'm gonna shoot you on Sunday for making me read your grueling post.

What's with the name calling, sweet cheeks? Honey bun donut hole.

Why is it absolutely necessary for a plain civilian to openly carry a firearm other than at a range?

Because we can
But you're entitled to your own opinion. But it isn't wise to voice it on a 'mostly' pro gun pro rights airsoft milsim board.
End of discussion.

Alright, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Protecting you and yours and those around you? Protection from what exactly? Who is out there trying to harm you exactly? Oh by all means carry your guns around openly if it makes you feel better about your personal well being.

Oh, nothing I said has to do with the second amendment; I'm all for the ownership of firearms and free carry and I have by no means "surrendered" my liberties or freedoms. And yes I am for banning of certain weapons to civilians, because I've actually been in the military of this great nation, and civilians don't need military grade or "those baaaad guns" which you so cutely put. So we simply allow civies to own grenade launchers and RPG's for no other purpose than because they just can? No. Sorry. Certain weapons are banned for reasons and I'm all for that. Yes I'm a civilian NOW, but I've got my fill.

Civilians don't need full automatics, they don't need heavy machine guns, grenades, rocket launchers, mines, or tanks, and they certainly don't need to be openly carrying to show off, and yes; for a civilian to openly carry they are in fact showing off because if others can SEE it, you are SHOWING it.

All you self-entitled punks is what's wrong with America. I served my country and as far as I'm personally concerned I still am. Secure our borders, keep American citizens armed, defend this state, this country, and for God's sake, and maintaining the peace, keep your f***ing heat concealed unless you want to cause trouble for an excuse to pull out your weapon for "personal defense".

So you can bring unnecessary attention to yourself? Please. And I'm not talking about the entire country right now I'm talking about this state. You don't need a CCW to conceal carry, so...conceal your piece and maintain the peace. Show offs.

Well. Regardless of whether or not you agree with it People will do what people want to do.

I guess I could just recommend that you and your family do what is best for you guys without trying to push your beliefs on others. Ill take that advise myself.

By the way, I stopped an armed robbery at a circle k once back in 1998.
With my gun I protected my self and others.   I protected the clerk and the other two customers in the store from possibly getting shot. That's what I meant when I say me and mine and others.

Thanks for serving our country.

Now can we all just call it a f%^^*ng day already.

I'm too young to legally carry a handgun openly by two years, but am planning to purchase a handgun through private transfer for self defense (use my taser till then, yes, i have a taser, was purchased by my father for my mother when she goes out, but I use it when i go out after dark, even though its illegal to carry)

So does anyone here have any stories relating to open carry? Police confrontations or detainment? I hear good things about Arizona LEO's knowing the rights and laws regarding the open carry of firearms.

Also, I haven't been able to find this online for arizona, but ill call the non-emergency number to request to talk to a LEO and ask if need be,

2 things:

One: Is it illegal to carry the firearm hot? -loaded-, I know in California you can not carry a loaded firearm, it has to be unloaded.
Two: Thigh/Drop-Leg holsters, I know it may seem "tacticool" to wear a thigh rig instead of a traditional SERPA or hip/belt holster, But I hear that if the "Illegal to carry loaded" is true in arizona, you may not be able to have the magazine attached to the gun in any way, Most of you know that holsters -Such as on Crossdraw vests or drop leg holsters- there is a Magazine pouch atop the weapon on the sights on the outside of the holster as seen below.

Would it perhaps be illegal to have your magazine in said pouch, it is rather close to the weapon and could be mis-construed as being attached to the firearm.

I know this could be easily avoided by simply using a traditional belt/hip holster and having your magazines on the opposing hip or close by on the belt, but when winter comes around, things do get harsh and cold, Wearing large hoodies or layers, jackets and such, i'd or someone may most likely accidentally have the clothing atop/over the firearm, thus becoming a Concealed Carry issue!

Sure, if your over or @ 21, this is not a issue as you can Legally CC in most places without a permit, but as being under 21, this would pose a issue as if confronted by a LEO and spotting fore-mentioned firearm, would be viewed as a violation for unlawfully carrying a weapon concealed.

Large clothing + Belt holster, would seem bad for me come winter, and a drop leg wouldnt be in the way and easily go over a large set of cargos (for the winter) and not be considered concealed.

Thanks for reading and look forward to your opinions on this topic.

Listen, Killer; if you want to open carry that's fine, but you have to understand that open carrying draws a lot of unnecessary attention to yourself and the anti gun folk are going to give you a lot of trouble or try to start trouble with you. My advice, conceal, conceal, conceal. Then again, if you want to carry, I prefer the simple hip holster, NOT the leg drop. I can not stress it enough how much of a hassle those drop holsters are. I didn't use mine during my duty overseas. They're called drop because you drop'em and leave'em.

I have no stories of open carrying, because I don't open carry. I conceal to (1) Not bring attention to myself;(2) Not allow others to know what and where my weapon is; and (3) element of surprise. If for some reason you do need to use your firearm to defend yourself, others, or both, then you have it on hand. And yes it's okay to have it on you loaded. Screw California also! It's all going to sink into the ocean anyway, and they're definitely not Arizona, so forget about them entirely.

Why are you talking about "beliefs"? And families and pushing things? You don't even know what we're talking about anymore. And that's nice that you protected people from getting shot. No one would have gotten shot regardless if you were there or not. Actually, you could have made things worse and gotten yourself and everyone else shot DEAD. But you didn't, so congratulations for luck that you happened to have your trusty gun and the guy and/or gal wasn't totally bat s*** insane and started flipping out and then you could have done nothing about it. That, or the guy had an airsoft gun and realized that he was screwed either way. He still could have taken out eyes and teeth. Again, he didn't...  8)

What?

And it's an honor to serve this country, and defend this state I currently reside.

You're a pretty fun person to read words from, kid. We should, you know, call it a day as maybe chat on the playing field. I'm not ever getting out of airsoft. Unless the world becomes a nuclear wasteland.
