Radio and headset
« on: December 23, 2011, 08:40:29 PM »
Im looking to get a radio and headset

something like this, or with two ear pieces, just curious what kind of radios the military guys use and how much they cost. Are there any cheaper radios out there?

I had one of those, didn't like it. Even on the lowest volume setting, it blasted my ear off. Also, the wire inside the cord for the PTT kept breaking, had to repair it once, then I just gave up on it.

The Devgru headsets are really good quality. I have a Frogman model, the only thing I don't like about it is that it cuts off all other sound to that ear. Makes it impossible to hear somebody talking when they are standing to your side.

All the military guys use an Icom F4S Radio, and just about everybody here will recommend www.reddogradios.com. From what I understand, if you order one from there, just let them know you want it programmed for AA channels (Airsoft Arizona) and they'll set it up for free.

The problem with shopping around is that you may end up with one that is not programmed for FRS frequencies or is unable to be programmed.
