SOLD: 2004 Subaru Forester XT
« on: March 17, 2012, 05:38:01 AM »
SOLD

$10k OBO

'04 Subaru Forester XT 5MT, ~125k miles. I am the second owner and bought it in July 2010.  Many of the miles I put on it were from the 4,625mi drive from NH to TN to KS to CO to UT to NV to CA to AZ in September.  :P

All maintenance is up to date (except spark plugs - have them, just not installed yet). Timing belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, water pump, thermostat, and coolant replaced at 105,001 miles.  Rear diff fluid at ~123k with Motul Gear300, transaxle fluid is a Motul / Redline Shockproof Lightweight blend.  Oil changed every 3-4k (spec is 3750) with Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic and OEM Subaru filters. I had one change in Vegas with some other oil since I couldn't find Rotella.

Brand new (few hundred miles) Yokohama S-Drive summer tires (235/50/17) on Rota Torque 17x7.5 wheels.

It also has RallyArmor mudflaps, a JDM STi hood scoop (have stock somewhere), and a Kenwood KDC-BT945U head unit. The integrated bluetooth works incredibly well (both media streaming and phone). It was installed properly with a wiring harness adapter, so you don't have to worry about rats' nest wiring.

VF39 (WRX STi) turbocharger installed at 109k (stock turbo was on its way out). The car also has an STi intercooler and a 3" Maddad turboback exhaust with catted downpipe (not cheap, though I bought it used in excellent shape). The tune is an off the shelf Cobb map via an Accessport V2 (included).  I passed AZ emissions without issue.  Dynocomp in Scottsdale said there's 20-30hp on the table if I were to go there for a protune ($250). I'd do a catless up pipe before that, though, so I haven't done it.

The exterior isn't perfect, but nothing horrible either.  The only issue that needs attention is the STi intercooler hits an AC line in the engine bay and is starting to wear through the line.  I got a quote at $40 for a custom line - I'll take care of it when I get a chance, but I haven't done it yet. I also have a trailer hitch, which the muffler occasionally vibrates against - solution is to either remove the hitch, add a rubber buffer piece, or deal with it.  :P

It has been autocrossed a few times and is an absolute blast to drive (if you're going to keep it on road, I'd highly recommend WRX suspension and a new/beefier rear sway bar).  I took it to the drag strip once and it pulled 13.65 @ 100mph.

There are many unflattering pics here - the object is to show everything I could that was wrong with the car, not to make it look good: http://freshblacktop.com/pics/fxt/album/index.htm

It's an awesome vehicle.  So much fun, even in the passengers seat.
