Mich 2000 VS Mich 2001 VS Fast helmet
« on: July 15, 2012, 10:38:36 AM »
I'd like your opinions on which is more functional, looks cooler, etc, etc. I'm in the market to buy one of these in tan. I am NOT creating a replica loadout, I am creating one that is comfortable for me. Since i've never even held these helmets before, I need your help to know which one suits me! Oh, and the Mich 2002 is not even an option, I despise it!

I've never used a FAST nor seen one on the field (to my knowledge), but I've got a replica 2001. I personally prefer it over the 2000 because of the lack of ear cover.

Are you building a "real" one or replica? I have a replica 2001 that I use once in a while. I also have a Pro-tec that makes it out occasionally. I do really like the FAST helmets too. The problem with replica TC's is the harness and pads suck. I changed mine out with good pads and an Ops-core harness. World of difference. When you start adding up the price of rails, harnesses, pads, NVG mounts, paint, velcro etc it starts to add up.
If I were to get another helmet I would purchase a OPs-core FAST Basejump helmet. They're about $200 but they have ARC rails, Headloc harness and a molded NVG mount included. Add up the cost of all that stuff separately and your already pretty close, of course unless it's replica stuff. There are some nice looking replicas out there.

I was looking at the OPs-core helmets, I want the rails and NVG mount. I think that would be the best for me then, I like to play a fast styled game. Is there a noticeable weight difference between the 3?

My 2001 is heavier and it's fiberglass. My Protech is really light. I
imagine the Basejump is comparable to the Protect. The main comfort factor is not
going to be weight, it's going to be the fit, pads and harness. I'd try some on when you spot them at games. Most guys like showing them off.

Check out the replica IBH's too. They look pretty neat.

Even though i'm not making an impression of anything, I heard IBHs were getting phased out. I want modern things :P
