Battery questions.

Hello everyone!

First and foremost, I did google this beforehand and found it hard to really get a good answer that didn't raise more questions, also I am sure this has been asked a hundred times, but every circumstance is different and my follow up questions may be different. THAT SAID:-

Recently I got this through the mail -

I didn't have a battery or a charger so I went to a local hobby store today (hobby bench in Tempe off Guadalupe, very nice store would recommend). So to cut a long thread short I ended up getting a Tenergy 11.1v 2200mAH lipoly battery (25c, after a little research this seems to be an important number). So basically my question/concern is that this battery 'seems' to be way overpowered for my rifle, it is already wired to deans so I am under the assumption there has already been a little work on it.

So my questions are,
Is this battery to overpowered for the gun (since I will be using it indoors it will 95% of the time be used single shot and not full auto). If so what would be a good alternative.
Some answers I got seemed to point to upgrading some internal components, I am on a limited budget and time frame (next weekend), what would I need to do to support the battery, or indeed do to check to see if those upgrades are already done.

The kind of wear you're looking at here, by using that lipo, is going to most likely be on
your Piston
and your Trigger contacts.

i reccomend shimming your gun well, purchasing a high quality piston, and possibly a mosfet so you do not fry your trigger contacts

You already have the battery, so just use it. It will be a little harder on your gun then a lower voltage battery is, simply because it will cause your motor to turn faster, and provide higher amps faster through the trigger, causing it to arm a bit more.  The faster things move, the higher the risk of them breaking.

But if you like the rate of fire it is giving you, then use it. The gun will break eventually, no way around it, may as well use it the way you want until it does. Then just get it fixed.

The one thing that is MANDATORY for using Lipo's is make sure you use a LIPO charger, and charge it using the small connector with 4 wires on it. DO NOT CHARGE IT USING THE DEANS PLUG.

Second, and highly recommended, is to use a lipo voltage monitor. This plugs into the charging cable while your using your gun, and monitors the voltage of each cell in the battery. If the voltage drops below a certain point, it will beep at you. The reason this is important, is because if you discharge a lipo battery too far, it will actually damage the battery. I would worry too much about getting one of these before your next game, because it's not very likely that you'll discharge your battery all the way in just a small game, just make sure you fully charge it before the game starts.  (these are currently out of stock on this link, but just to give you an idea: http://www.eliteairsoftbatteries.com/products/150-airsoft-lvc-for-3s-111v-lipo-packs.aspx)

Personally the rate of fire does not effect me that much, For a month or so it will be mainly used at tempe PB which only allows single shot anyway. From what I am understanding the only way the gun is going to get damaged by the battery it the high ROF just wearing the gears and piston down.

Eventually I wanted to dabble into the mechanics and upgrading of airsoft so maybe this would be the time. Just do it one bit at a time!

As for the charger, getting the right one is kinda freaking me out a little. Had no idea there were so many kinds. That charger will work, just know that it is a very slow charger.

I have 2 Tenergy smart chargers, one to charge my Deans batteries and one to charge my Tamiya simultaneously. Tenergy works just fine for the price.

Yeah, I appreciate that but unfortunately I am already spending money I don't have. In the future I probably upgrade the charger.

I will also start looking into the piston and shimming, for the life of me I can not get to my gearbox to look at what I currently have, I know its supposed to be easy but I don't feel like breaking my gun. Anyone know any good techs out there?

    Alright another battery related question. I again tried to google this to no avail, on the same model as posted above there is a tactical flashlight. Although its more for mere aesthetics, having it work would be a bonus, what batteries does that take, it looks like a C cell but before I go and drop $7 on batteries I would like a second opinion.
     Also the guy I got this from says it doesn't work but believes it is just a bulb issue. I know nothing about this type of light other then its a 6v Xenon. Is there anywhere in Phoenix that I can take it to that will know anything about it? Just not really sure where to start to tackle this.

I think he is, and if you are John, just pack it into a Batteries Plus. (they can help you if it's an oddball battery) But just the light, I don't recommend taking the whole gun in for obvious reasons...
