Been a while... What do I know??
« on: December 12, 2012, 12:52:36 PM »
Hey guys, been a long time since I've been into the sport and I want to get back in. I just want to know. Is CA and G&P sill at the top of the AEG game? Who makes good product now and who sucks. And are Sportline's worth it?

I've been hearing good things about Ares and King Arms but they sucked Godzilla spunk last I heard...

G&P is still up there. IMO classic army makes some pretty decent weapons.

I've never liked Ares and probably never will, and king arms is OK, nothing great.

For AEG's I personally like VFC and G&P. Though I probably won't being using AEG's much now that I have a Polarstar.

I'm no KWA fanboy, but for the price the CQR is a great weapon to start out with, only costing $180 before discounts

Yeah I agree with Desert rush on the kwa, the internals are quite good for the price. And no the CA Sportlines aren't worth it and ICS is makes some ingenious gearbox functions and the internals are good too.

What about the Sportline's? Not like I'm on some tight budget, I just care more about actual firearms than Airsoft. I don't care about the plastic on the Sportline's but do they WORK

Back when I played a lot I had a G&P, a metallic classic army, and an ICS. All worked well and I'll probably get one of those 3

I'm just making sure there's nothing new and awesome for a decent price that I missed. Just like the KWA. In surprised to hear its a good AEG.

KWA and ICS Sportlines are both awesome.  G&G's are decent.  CA's suck.

I agree with Xavier, ICS is the brand under the hood. They don't get much rep, but my buddy owns an Olympic arms ICS proline and it works great. I haven't tried their sport lines though, seems like they'd be decent for the price

See, in the real world I hear Olympic and I die a little inside. They're terrible, but if ICS makes a great AEG I'm ok with what it says on the receiver haha

I love both my king arms and g&p m4's.   Out of the box the g&p is defiantly the better gun but so far my king arms has held up very well.  I am actually selling my King Arms Colt Magpul M4 if you are looking to get a gun.

I'll break away with the pack and say I HATE KWA. Frequent failure of their 9mm bushings, glued-in shims/ unshimmable gears, proprietary hop up, gear axle placement is incorrect / not spec, lots of other complaints. Stock, they're more or less "OK" but if you want a gun to upgrade, seek elsewhere.

Techs mostly hate KWA, people who never have to work on their guns mostly like them until they fail.

I like TM & CA "proline", some G&P guns (mk23). Chinese guns: JG has pretty strong internals, but accuracy and consistency are places they need working on.

Actually you'll probably get either Colt or Bushmaster trades on their new ones.  I've got a couple of brand new Sportlines I need to sell if you are interested.

The newer ICS models are great! Fixed many of the old problems from their early AEG's. Nearly 99% Marui compatible. The shell is proprietary because of the Split gearbox design, and so is the receiver. But the Split Gearbox makes it very easy for spring changes, repairs or even upgrades. I can do a spring swap within 5 minutes so thats much easier than taking apart the entire gearbox and having to deal with gears/etc.

Don't know how long it's been for you, but in the past few years CYMA's quality has seemed to go way up..... If you're wondering about cheaper Chinese AEGs hah.

Does EVERYONE use LiPo now? or are NiMh batteries still common/preferred?

I found a good G&P on WGC and it uses a 2 cell lipo in the receiver extension but I might want a nickel metal batter in a fake peq/2

And what do y'all know about Echo 1?
