How to choose hop-up buckings.
« on: December 01, 2013, 02:38:21 PM »
Hello AA,
I have a question for you today. Is there a "proper" way to choose the most optimal hop-up bucking for an airsoft rifle? I couldn't find a guide or even an answer to my question here or anywhere else on the internet. Is it just a preference or should you base it off fps, barrel length, and other variables?
Thanks,
HeadHunter

Alright thanks. When I have a chance to get down there I'll ask him since I need some other items too.

It's easy, get it r-hopped, and use a hard bucking. Little to no thought involved after that, other than when people scratch their heads as to how you are out ranging them with the same fps.

hello head hunter.

for the record comand post is at 19th ave and unionhills nw corner next to dunkin doughnuts.

as for hop up bucking choice goes i agree for the most part with nukeduster. i like prommy reds, and the modify ribbed havent failed me yet.
i hear good things about the madbul greens and the lonex 70 dur hards.

for field guns shooting at or above 380fps a hard bucking and r-hop style modification will suit you very well. for cqb guns being used at places like vip or tempe paintball, you can use pretty much any bucking, a hard will work just as well as any other i use the modify ribbed in mine. i dont recomend an r-hop style mod for cqb guns as when using .2g bb's you will more than likely over hop even with the hop turned all the way off.
never underestimate the things you dont know.

Thanks for the input guys. I do have a modify ribbed bucking and I'm building a field setup. It looks like I can get a few r-hops, and put them in my gun and have some extra. I do have a question about R-hop inserts though. I couldn't find any data other than, "Wow, makes my gun shoot farther and more accurate!" and comments like that. Does it really increase range and accuracy that much? Nobody actually says how much further or accurate it makes them and it doesn't even give an estimate. I don't want anything like exact numbers but is it around 20' of extra range or something like 30'-40' extra? My gun does use an M120 spring with a 6.03mm, 300mm barrel and I'm using .25g bb's so I think the r-hop will work in it.
Also spazz, does command post sell R-hops by any chance?

i have my own type of r-hop style patch. mine is injection molded urethane rubber. weather you go with mine or an hs5 r-hop patch i would suggest the use of .28g or higher bb's. as long as the install is done correctly you should notice a good gain in range and accuracy.

I'll PM you for more info on your style r-hop because it sounds like I might go with that because it sounds better than a normal r-hop.
