Good choice with that pistol and I think you will like that sr16. I would have recommended a Classic Army gun but I guess it's too late now. If you stick around long enough maybe Ill see ya at a game.

I'm hoping to be able to go out for a game at least once a month.

Just out of curiosity, why would you recommend a Classic Army gun?

You can get some BDU's down at Laradas(not sure of location) in Phx. But I would suggest getting a pair from www.cheaperthandirt.com for 28 shipped. You should go to a few games first with just a gun and BDU's before you get gear cause you might not like playin.

Welcome to Airsoft Arizona.  I looked around some at the Lancamp.com forums and noticed that several of you are planning on making an order from HK.  Before you do, I highly recommend that you make a trip down to this store: http://www.airsoftarizona.com/forums/to ... IC_ID=4229

Ask for Ron, he can answer just about any gun related question.  You can take a look at the guns they have, and maybe even decide to buy some there, instead of ordering overseas and having to worry about Customs.

Next, about gear.  At first, keep it simple and cheap.  Go to a few games, see what works for you, and see what other people are using.  This will save you a lot of time/money.

When you do start buying gear, there are many places to buy it from.  Any local surplus store will have BDU's, and a limited amount of lower quality, but cheap, gear.  I highly recommend http://www.Practicaltactical.net.  Tim (the owner) is a local guy, and very helpful.  You may also want to check out http://www.Lightfighter.com.  They have a large selection, but many things are often backordered.  It is however an excellent site to see what is available.

On a side note, when is the next big Lancamp LAN party scheduled for?

Laradas is not in Phoenix, its in Mesa.  I bought my used bdu's from a true surplus store at 35th ave and Osborne in Phoenix called US Surplus. Its on the NE corner of the intersection.  All new BDU's there run about $25 for pants and $15-$20 for shirts, its been awhile.  Used shirts are in a bin and are $3.50 and my used pants were $7.50. They get in stuff every week so just see what they have.

And Welcome to the AA boards [:)]

US surplus is a great place... real nice, selection of stuff.  However the one down side to their used selection, is that if you are anythign other than a large or smaller, they wont have it.  The have a MILLION sets of used bdu's in med and small, and then some large.  But if you're a bigger guy then its off to the other side of the store where all the new stuff is.  I ended up spending just over $60 on my set.  I couldnt find em online any cheaper either.  Seems there arent too many big guys gettin rid of their BDU's.  :D   and yea... go see Ron... thats for sure!

thanks for all your replies guys.

I've been to Laradas before, its on broadway, i think.  I think that I'll go check out that gun store, and laradas sometime soon and pick up some cheap BDU's and what not.  As far as ordering the guns from HK, I was a little iffy on it, and I still am, but we are going through redwolfairsoft.com and they gaurantee that your order will get through customs as long as you let them ship it how they want to.  A couple guys already got some guns from there, and I guess we're getting a significant discount gor doing a big order and being return customers.
I'm getting really excited to get my gun and go have a game or twenty.  I used to paintball, but I think I'll like this because it's more real, and from what I can tell its cheaper per game.  Buying paint every time you go out, and getting your tanks filled was never cheap, then again I was 16 at the time [}:)]

O, and as the LANs go.  We try to do something small (sometimes members only) at least once a month, but we also do a 150+ person LAN about once a year, and it looks like thats gonna be around November this year.
Check out the pics of last years Desert Bash in the pics section of the website.
