Those are the couse deer right?
If you have never hunted them before, they are completely different than other types of deer. For 1, they seem to run for ever. The grass is tall, and the deer are short, so all you see is antlers or ears running through the grass.
It is a lot of fun though, good luck.  :)

P.S.
Expect to walk, alot, and use your binos all the time. Find them before they see you, thats the secret.

Yeah, but are they good eatin'?

It sure was hard packing it out.  We tied its legs together and threaded a pole through them...

Thats why I learned that you park the truck DOWN the hill and hunt UP it for anything bigger than deer[:P]! They sure are alot lighter if you gut them right when you get them, rather than taking the whole thing back to camp, too, but I'm sure you already figured that one out!

Yeah...lost about half a ham on that one [:O]

Next time, I'm going to gut and quarter it on the spot, instead of just field dressing it and carrying the whole thing out.

Sweet, poor little deer. How far away was the shot. How much did you get out of it? You could have killed thing with a 17HMR [:D]

Where did you go? My hunt is in Dec and hopefully I can get mine on the first day too.

Congrats!!

Thanks.  I took him just west of Hwy 83 about 15 miles south of I-10 near a place called Rosemont Junction. He was the biggest of the 6 we glassed and I had to chase him. He was on the run, at about 100-120 yards (hard to tell since he was running up the other hill which was down and accross 2 washes from me), on the other side of a revine.  I tried to center the shot between his shoulders but he took a sharp left behind a tree.  The shot hit him just above the left hip. The round traveled up, through his viscera and lungs, lodging in his ribcage. I basically was able to quarter him with only about quarter of a rump lost.
