I've never owned an ICS m4, but I have a TM SR-16 (m4 RIS w/ fixed stock) and its super reliable as all TM guns are.

If you're new to the sport get a Marui! Its far better to be outgunned (not that you will - alot of people have stock weapons) than to have something that might quit on you in the middle of a firefight(and you not know how to fix it!). Upgrades can always come down the road!

Tm guns are very reliable and have nice gear boxes. I have heard conflicting reports on ICS M4 AEG's. They however, do have that special feature that un-jambs the gun. Many also find the gun to be ugly. The ICS is easy to upgrade the spring. But I have heard that they tend to break much more easily. If you want an all metal gun Classic Army is ok but I would chose to have a TM. I have a Commando that is my new project gun that I am going to put rail and metal body on.

There is nothing wrong with having a stock gun.  Dont feel the need to "match up" to the guys with 450 fps guns.  you dont need all that power.  I would go with a TM.

I use the ICS M4 and I can say it is the easiest to work on and has more fps out of the box than the TM, you can decompress the spring by using the forward assist, and it takes down close to the real thing, and is very dependable. At op cold burn I had the misfortune of having a bb break and jam in my barrel. I decompressed the spring walked over to the jungle toy reps and borrowed a cleaning rod, opened the gun, unjamed the barrel and was back in the game under 10 minuets. Also the ICS has an all metal body as some TM's are plastic. Every one has there preference but I would choose ICS any day. ( My ICS judgment is based on an standard out of the box gun, and I dont know how they react upgraded.)

The only M4 variant I have ever used in a game is my RM SR16, but in that it has been awesome.  I havent had anything go wrong with it at all other than a loose battery connection (my fault, not TMs).  One thing to remember is that just because it has a metal body doesnt mean it is indestructable.  At OP: Sandstorm this year Woody (I believe) broke the metal body on his ICS M4.  And upgrades dont matter as much as you might think.  I have played the last 4 games with my worn out SR shooting 210-220 fps and I havent had a problem racking up the kills.  Its more in the user.  Rick

Ive owned a ICS M4 for about a year now.It shot hot outta the box and is a breeze to upgrade.I added a few uprades and it shoots close to 400FPS...without a tight bore barrel. It has a all metal body and is SO easy to work on.It is a true airsoft gamer gun.You won't regret buying one.

Go with a TM.  It not how good your gun is, it's how good YOU are.  I've played people with 400 fps guns and hit them plenty of times.  It's not the gun its the player.

I have had a few firefights where my aeg stopped working for no reason...know you gun inside and out, it will save you money on repair(if you dont break it exploring)time, and curse words. I dont have a full metal body and my aeg is running great, alought full metal body would make her purdier :-)

Thats because you guys don't know how to take care of your gear.Theres something about a minor and airsoft guns...they always mysteriously break their guns and then say this brand sucks and don't buy one.

I still say its all based on personal preference. If you like TM thats cool. My TM Sig 552 is an awsome CQB gun. I like my ICS because it has the metal body and the way the gun takes down. There are some bad brands out there like Academy.

Actually I do know how do work on guns.  I had an AE mp5 and it kept breaking.  They I got an SR and its flawless.  I don't care about a metal body and a 400fps spring.  I like my gun how it is.

I will never get a Tokyo Marui again.  There are many companies out there now, and ICS, CA, G&G, G&P, ect.. all have metal bodies (except the CA G36 which is Graphite?).  The reliablity of TM is nice, but the plastic bodies are not my cup o' tea.  Metal is nice because if you drop them, oh well, it's metal.  You drop a plastic gun, you have a good chance it's cracked (I cracked My VN body when the front strap pin snapped because the metal they use is not very good).  I'd go with the ICS.  If anything happens, you can just put in new internals, which you would be doing anyway with the TM.
