Chronoing
« on: March 06, 2005, 09:37:35 PM »
I believe that we need to be less lenient on the chronoing at games.  If a max fps is 400.  It should be 400.  If your AEG is hot, and you want to be a sniper, you should have a gun that is modified to prevent auto fire.  Otherwise, you have to use a different gun, period.

At the Mar. 6th game I witnessed a player that had a very hot gun, go auto on people.  Granted they were at a decent distance, but that doesn't mean someone is not going to pop up and get plugged at a closer range.

I was plugged from behind by a gun that I question its fps.  When you feel BBs strongly through your camelback and vest at the range from where I was shot, something seems amiss.

The reason we chrono is not to level the playing field or to make the guns work a deficiently.  The reason is safety.  We all take risks when we airsoft, and we take responsibility for that.  However, it is with the understanding that all guns shoot a particular amount of energy, and we have protective gear to accomodate that fact.

Disallowing hot guns is a service for people on both sides of the trigger.  First, for those that can't really afford a trip to the dentist or worse yet a trip to the eye doctor, it is good to know that you are playing on a field populated by weapons for which you have taken necessary and prudent precautions against injury.  On the other side, you have confirmed that your weapon is not an unnecessary danger to any fellow player.  Personally, I would be crushed if I accidentally permanently injured someone and found out after the fact my gun was hot.

The first rule is safety.

I agree.  I did not see a single weapon chronoed at the game at four peaks a couple weeks ago.  40-50 people, and not a single one chronoed.  at least, not from what i saw.  i know i didnt get chronoed!

If you play With AA thats the LAW! but you have to watch people, I seen players with hot guns 425+ chrono with .25s to get under the 400 mark. I think we need to  (AA designated mag so we know its a .20) chrono Mag. Anyone that shoots hot has to have semi only/F/A removed. Any one that shoots anyone up close with F/A needs to have there ass kicked in my book

yea, it would be smart to get a few mags of each kind with .2's in it.  simply getting someone to fill of theirs up with .2s and let everyone put a few through it would really work.   that way, it would be less of a hassle and it could all get done MUCH quicker.

Have one person designated to keep those mags, and to give each person something like a tag once his gun is chronoed.

When you do the big events thats what they do. you get a wire tie on your gun designating its FPS. Your allowed 5-8 fps over but it gets red or orange tag and your in deep crap if you shoot someone under 25 with orange  and 50 feet for snipers

white or clear is under 350  for CQB
brown or black is under 400
orange was up to          408  hot but still available  25 foot rule
red was 500   for  snipers semi only f/a removed   50 foot rule

To keep it simple, just tag it if it meets the FPS.  I would keep it at 300 for CQB, for how much we do that officially.  :P

As for unofficial games, if a game states it will be using AA rules, it should be strict on the fps guideline.

This should have been brought to Mikey,s attention at the game. I've questioned a few guns at the games and had them pulled  aside between games to chrono and found they were below 400fps.

This is AA and we deal with honor.  I would hate to see us questioning each other but for safety sake I can see why.  If anyone ever mischronos with intent or fails to chrono with intent, I have no sympathy for them.  They can leave by the same means they arrived and take the walk of shame.  If anyone wants to "play" with us they better follow the rules or they will find themselves not welcomed at any future events.  And this just boggles my mind why if anyone would want to risks this.

When the host asks before we start the first game if everyone has chronoed, this is a last reminder if anyone just forgot.  Dont be scared to say "No I forgot." or "No, I havent yet"  We will gladly wait for you to chrono. I know that we have many newcomers here, so this is just a friendly reminder to also read all of the organizations rules before you sign up as a member or come out to any airsoft game.  And that also can go to those members who may need some brushing up on the finer points :)

What would you suggest be the minimum speed for guns though? I want to use this info in the future when I buy weapons, not only for max speed but for min speed.

There really is no minimum to a gun, its just what your happy with. 330 FPS is a good speed, at least in my opinion, but that extra 50 FPS(currently at about 380) i have gets that BB a little farther.

Tag the guns, bottom line.

A note aside, its not just stickin a big 'ol spring in that gearbox, it has to do with what kind of internals your running, type and length of inner barrel and bb's. The right combo can give you good accuracy.

Rules are f*cking rules!

If someone breaks them, ask them to leave, simple as that.

When I played at AA games in the past, the rules were strictly enforced.  There were never any problems!  I'd like to see this kept the way it is because it works.

Tagging is a good idea, but it's a pain.  Tags can be bought, and a whole other issue arises.

Keep it within the limits set forth by the games organizer(s), or don't use it.  Don't like it?  Leave.

There will ALWAYS be ways to get around the system - any system. Your point is taken sarge, but some prevention is far better than no prevention.  Hopefully, most of the violators are simply new guys who don't know better.
