It was a PDI 170 spring, sorry not to specify. I havent messed around with the systema M170 so I would not know the difference.

Trust me there is a very big difference. [smilie=armata_pdt_25.gif] Not sure what a m170 would shoot at, and I dont want to find out. But a PDI 170 with a silent head set can get a mauri to shoot around 400fps.  [smilie=armata_pdt_37.gif]
And about 430 with a Classic Army...Crazy stuff.

MP5-A5 problem
« Reply #16 on: March 23, 2005, 11:02:12 PM »
YES, yet another problem with my MP5. I have the gear box situation all taken care of, greased and shimmed, now something’s up with my motor ( i'm guessing) cause it won't fire the piston, cranks it all the way back and won't go any further. I know it's not my battery cause my 9.6 is putting out 10.5 and that had seemed to fix the problem before (increasing the battery voltage that is.) Any idea's for the newbie? thanks again, Tim  [smilie=armata_pdt_36.gif]  [smilie=armata_pdt_35.gif]

What's the mah rating of your 9.6v battery?  Just because it's 9.6volts dosen't necessarily mean it will do the job.  You need a high mah rating as well.

i think it's 600mah. my 8.4 is a 1200mah, but that won't turn it at all. The thing that gets me is that my gun worked fine night before last, and it seemed as though the battery went dead while i was testing it. So yesterday i discharged it and charged it back up, and it hasn't cycled the piston completely since. [smilie=armata_pdt_09.gif]  [smilie=armata_pdt_30.gif]

A 9.6v 600mah will not turn over an m120 spring.  You need at least a 1000mah.  Go get yourself a bigger battery.

I tried using one of my RC car batteries, 9.6 volt 2400mah and it still dosn't wanna turn. I'm not sure what the problem is so i think i'm gonna put it up for sale and just start over. It's probably a simple problem but i just don't know how to fix it  [smilie=armata_pdt_05.gif]. Thanks for all your help guys i thought i had it fix for a few lol!  [smilie=armata_pdt_36.gif]

Sounds like your gears are either shimmed too tight or the piston is binding are the rear most travel.  ICS mp5's tend to have that problem.  Is your gun an ICS?

Ahh Come on man, don't give up yet. If I would have sold my M4 every time It was being a little on the homo side, I would have sold it a billion times. It seems like every time I try to upgrade mygun, I end up breaking something & upgrading even more.

Hey, It's a TM. I know their not shimmed too tight, cause i can rotate the gears manually with no problem, and the piston i know isn't binding, cause it moves really freely (withing reason because of the spring tention of course.) i shimmed it carefully so that it would hold it steady, but not so tight where the walls are almost being pressed out becase of it. I've been fighting it for like 2 months, and it's really frustrating me. JT couldn't/wouldn't fix it and i just don't know enough about these to figure it out on my own. (you know i'm rediculous when i solder the motor connections cause i don't have motor leads yet. ) Sooo.. i really don't know what to do  [smilie=armata_pdt_05.gif]  [smilie=armata_pdt_36.gif]

Well it's either not enought juice but you said you tried other batteries, shims too tight but you said you can spin the gears easy, or the piston is binding at the rear, but you said you can move it easy as well.  It could very well be your motor then... got another one you can borrow to test it with?

Guess you need to ask around and see if anybody lives close enough to you to let you try theirs out.  An EG700 will work just fine but you can swap in an EG1000 as well.

Oh... make sure you don't have the motor set screw turned in too tight or the drive gear will bind on the bevel gear.  If you have turned it in, then I suggest you back it out a couple turns and see if that fixes it.
