::Warning::

Ok, what the hell. Those are US soldiers, and that dog didn't look like it was doing anything horribly wrong. What the hell is that about?

I like dogs.

I could say that maybe the dog had some kind of disease, and they wanted to "put him down". But it looked like they were enjoying it. If I am right on that, they they could have done it in one shot to the head.

I like cats. :)

THats absolute garbage.

THey had no bloody reason to do that to a dog.

"Oh look, its a terrorist!  It could have an IED strapped to it!  SO lets get 2 feet away and shoot it 5 times!"

Arrgg...  I'm almost regretful that I even clicked that.

One thing is to shoot a dog to put it out of its misery... its another to film it and shoot it mult times, each time mising the vitals.

You have to realize that dogs over in Iraq are not the friendly domesticated dogs that we have over here.  They are wild animals that carry diseases.  How many of yall have ever shot a coyote or something along the same lines?  Dogs over there are shot on sight in order to prevent the spread of disease for our soldiers safety.

I love dogs myself, my two labs are at my feet right now, but crap guys lets not have a memorial service for some stupid animal.

I think it is not so much that they shot it, as how they went about it, that they appeared to enjoy it, and that they video taped the incident for posterity. In bosnia they shot strays as well, but they did it right with one shot to the head and didn't video tape it.

One thing you guys may want to consider before bashing our soldiers too much...think about the stress and situation they are in: away from their families, probably for over a year or more, in a combat area where they could lose their life, death and destruction all around, etc.

I am not defending what they did, or the manner in which they did it, but a long deployment in a hostile area can make you do things you would not normally do, make you think in ways you normally never would.  It is easy to judge when you are sitting in front of your computer, watching a video and not actually being there.

I Dont know what to say, I agree with both sides, perhaps the dog was diseased or Infected and they were protecting themselves, But the way they went about it was wrong, they are trained Soldiers you cant tell me that one of them couldnt have put that poor dog down with one single shot to the head.

Granted shooting the dog that way is messed up, but we could only be seeing half the video. Its not that hard to change audio on video or edit it so the audience sees what you want them to see. It looks to me like the dog was already injured (left hind quarter) covered in blood. For all we know it strayed in the path of a humvee and they were putting it out of its misery and as for filming it yeah thats pretty messed up........But lets not forget filming a dog being put down and filming someones head being cut off is what seperates us from them.

WAR is HELL!!!!

The "story" behind the video is located on ogrish.  Read it and you may understand how the dog got injured in the first place.

I call them stupid for video taping it.

The host of ogrish stated that he turned this video into officials at the DoD (and PETA).  Nevertheless, one more pair of eyes can't hurt.

Of course, there's the videos of Iraqis being tortured, and the pictures of the .50 cal. sniper and what a slug did to some dude's head. -Why are these being taken?

I think Doc Hollywood hit it square.. Kids being sent to kill. -And for what good reason? Some of these kids are going to return to the U.S. with serious head problems.
