Tech question: How many rounds per mAh?
« on: August 21, 2005, 06:55:55 PM »
I bought a Star 8.4V 3000mAh Ni-mH battery, and my gearbox is a Classic Army V3 with a PDI 170 spring; on a full, proper charge, how many rounds should I get out of the battery.  I'm talking continuous, full auto, machinegun fire.

I used to be up on all the current springs, batteries, etc; but the amps, discharge rates, and other factors are now lost on me.

EDIT: oops, I'm a noob didn't pay attention to the post... eh.  Well, with my experiance with an 8.4v 3000mAh battery, I'd say between 2200 & 2500 shots.  More than enough juice.

There's a counter you can download.  You fire infront of your computers mic and it will calculate your Rounds per minute.  I saw it on AirsoftCanada.com Arniesairsoft.com and Renegaderecon.com after Reaper (The NAM) told me about it.

In my testing, I have been getting @ 1650 rounds out of it.  I think I should get more, but that may be average for the spring I have in it; I just want a little more info.

This is interesting to me.  I have upgraded two Classic Army AEGs and each one has a higher rate of battery consumption than usual.  One AEG was upgraded with a PDI150% and the other with a Systema M120.  I never messed with the shims, I just left the gearboxes shimmed the same from the factory.  These are the only two Classic Army AEGs I have ever upgraded, all other TM gear boxes and even the TOP M249 with the PGC gearbox conversion I did had much better battery life from the same size batteries than these two guns.

Could the wiring be the culprit?
