Two problems with this, one, gear is such a personal choice. There is such a variety of rigs out there, and many different manufacturers.

Two, do you want style or practicality? Hardcore Milsim types gravitate toward what is seen on real battlefields, but that's sometimes too much for what is at it's heart, a run-and-skirmish game.

That said, you need;

A puoch/pouches to carry your mags in.

Something to carry water,

Good, sturdy footwear,

Clothing rugged and loose enough to play hard and move freely in.

My suggestion is to load out light as possible.
One piece of gear I wouldn't be without is a hydration pack. Everyone's got their favorite brand.

Chip,

Thanks for the suggestions...I would guess Milsim is the route I will be going.

I have the hydration issue covered...I have a Camelbak, but it's red/tan so it looks like I'll need some camo netting to go over it.

Gixser...that's a good link, but what I'm looking for is a checklist (like a preflight checklist) that I can print out to make sure I have all my gear or review what I need when I go shopping.

If I can't find what I need I'll make one up and post it.

Before a Game, I mentally dress myself.

-Socks, underwear, t-shirt

-BDUs

-Boots

-eyepro

-headgear (helmet or hat)

-Primary weapon (also mags and batteries for it)

-Load bearing kit for primary weapon (vest, chest rig, etc)

-secondary weapon/pistol (also holster and mag pouches for 2ndary)

-Hydration kit (camelbak/nalgene)

-support items like extra gas/BBs

-knee/elbow pads

-maintenance items such as cleaning/dejamming rod, silicon lube, basic tools

-RADIO w/headset/comme setup

-red rag (w/ extras if possible)

-any game-specific items  such as props, or stuff I borrowed from other players

-food/water

It's very basic, but it always helps.  The types of kit you choose is up to you and how you play, but always keep these items in mind before heading out to the AO.

AzSarge,

Thanks...that's what I was looking for.

I think I'm going to put together a list in .doc or Excel format so if people want to print it (or make changes) they can.
