If you think that was a 'skilled shot' then I'll sell you a bridge, it was pure LUCK, a 1 in a trillion chance of happening.  If I was the cop then I'd ask for the gun to keep a soveneir

Reminds my of that story about Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam.  Shot right through the scope of an Viet Cong sniper and hit him in the eye. (they ripped off that shot in Saving Private Ryan.)

Vasily Zietsev did it first...

Utterly amazing, though if they were able to do that on that first shot and neutralized the suspect's gun...

I didn't know that.  they were both some of the best snipers in history.

Zietsev nailed the chief of the German Army's sniper school, Maj. Heitz Thorvald during a multi-day counter-counter-sniper duel  in Stalingrad IIRC. The scope of Thorvald's rifle is still on display in a museum in Moscow.

The duel was (over)dramatised in the movie Enemy at the Gates, even if they got Thorvald's name wrong....

If you're a sniping fan, check out http://www.snipercentral.com/
Has a great writeup on Carlos :)

yeah, I'm a big sniper/long range shooting fan.  I've only done a little bit of it myself though.

Thanks for the link.
