Ahoy all,

Can any of you ICOM Savy guys give me a heads up on our new sponser; Red Dog Radios?  The packages and prices seem nice and if there is no bad press then I may give them a shot.

If its dirty pool to talk smack about a AA sponser on the forums, then feel free to PM me.

General Airsoft Discussion / Schools of Sight(for Newbs)
« on: April 15, 2006, 01:48:05 PM »
Hey all,

In the time that I have been playing I have only used Iron Sights, but have recently began messing around with other sighting options.

I would appreciate any advice from people in the know about other options.

So far I have gained the following info;

Ironsights-Tried and true, always the same, but slow target aquisition because you have to line up 2 points.

Co-Witness-A combination of Ironsights and Optics.  If I shot real firearms this would be my choice, but it seems too "busy" for airsoft for me.  Yet if optics go down then you still have sighting options.

Optics only-I am leaning towards this path.  Fast target aquisition and simple.  But I don't want to teach myself bad habbits.

Please weigh in and let me know what you think!

AEG's / My first series of upgrades.
« on: March 29, 2006, 05:59:13 PM »
Hey all, I hope everyone is well.

I'm going to take a week or 2 off from playing so I thought it would be a prime time to do my first airsoft gun mods.  I have done quite a bit of research and gotten quite a bit of input from many players in the know.

Although I think I have figured out what I want to do, I thought that I would post here so perhaps if I missed something or have something wrong the Airsoft Gurus' could give me a heads up.

I have 2 guns and plan on doing the same upgrades to both.

They are;  A CA36C(about a year old) and a CA M15A4 SPC.(less than a month old)  So far I love both guns and have no complaints, except for the obvious that comes from stock guns.

The upgrades planned and the parts that I have found to order are as follows;

-Systema M120 upgrade spring-
-Systema Silent Piston and Cylinder Head-  Question here, do I need both the cylinder and piston Head or just the piston head?
-Prometheus EG Barrel- 363mm length, 6.03mm bore(for the M15A4).  Says it fits M4A1, M4RIS, SR16, and SG551.  Will this work on my CA M15A4 SPC?
-Prometheus EG Barrel- 247mm length, 6.03mm bore.  Says it fits P90TR.  Will this work on my CA36C?

Am I getting the right goodies?

I am running 9.6V minis' on the CA36C so that should be good right?  I am runnin' 8.4 large on the M15 so I will have to get 9.6's for that right?.

Lastly;  I have never cracked open an AEG before so I plan on having others do the work fo me and I have a few peeps in mind and I will PM them or talk at them.  But if there are any volunteers PM me with how much you charge ONLY if you will let me watch!  I want to have each gun done by a different person so I can learn as much as possible.. I want to be able to do this stuff myself in the future.

Thanks in advance,
Charlie

AEG's / Armalite M15A4 SPC
« on: March 03, 2006, 08:20:25 PM »
I am seriously close to buying one of these from Precision Airsoft.  Yet their lack of good descriptions may cause me not to.

My questions are this:

Since its made by CA, should I assume that it has steel gears? etc

I want to use it as a platform for a M203, should I get the RIS version or the mounted version of the 203?

Lastly:  This will most likely be the first weapon that I plan to upgrade.  My thinking is that with the higher end gun I will need to upgrade less things, or should I get a lower end weapon because more parts will be after market?

I pray that the Sages of AA guide me.   :roll:

General Airsoft Discussion / Required Reading is Good!
« on: January 28, 2006, 12:06:16 PM »
As a new member to the Forums, I must say that reading of all of the, "Newbies please read", "Required reading" etc., was a boon.

Had I not read those posts I probably would have made almost every mistake listed in them!

Now.., at first I almost wore out the search button.  All of the topics and info was new to me.  So I read almost everything my searches brought up.

Recently, however, I have been having problems narrowing down my searches for more specific information.

So...., 2 questions;

Can any of you give me some advice on making my searches more precise?  I am no computer Guru, nor a user of many forums in the past.

Secondly;  Would any of you really knowledgeable members have the patience to volunteer to let me PM you any questions that I know should not be put up on the forums?  PM me if you would.

Don't get me wrong, I have no complaints about the forum.  Its just that there is so much information out there that I get sidetracked.

Or perhaps it is because of my A.D.D.....What was I saying?...I dunno, wanna go ride bikes?   Hehe :lol:

Be Well,

Introduce Yourself! / Greetings All!
« on: January 26, 2006, 07:54:27 PM »
Greetings All!

My name is Charlie McCoy.  Originally from Central Pennsylvania but have been in Phoenix fo 20 years.

I played paintball many years ago in its infancy(you had to shove the paint tube into the back of the gun and point it at the ground to pump in a round).  It was a blast for quite a time, yet I lost interest.  I felt that it was based on the belief that people would cheat.  Thus you had to mark them with paint.  Add to that the fact that the guns looked very ummm... unreal.

Skipping ahead:  I began goofing around with airsoft about 3 or 4 years ago with my son(who is 21 now, and I hope to get involved in AA as well).  It started as something cool to do on camping trips but became the reason for camping.

Ahhh...The good Ole days, when all guns were springers, and all were equal.  Alas, time does not stand still and in the natural progression of things our weapons progressed as well.

Those of us that were really into the combat began to seek better weapons, while those that were not began to find themselves horribly outgunned.

We still go out and have springer battles for all!  Yet some of us desire more!

Enough Backstory;

I have been visiting the AA forums for about 2 months now, and just recently joined.  Though I think that I may have done something wrong, I have paid no 20$ fee.  I have yet to get a waiver because my computer has no printer. (As soon as I get to a comp with a printer I will do so).

I have no military training or history, nor any with Law Enforcement(unless you count running from them in my crazed youth).

I am however a backpacker and have some skills in load carrying and map reading.

The Milsim aspect of AA is what appeals to me the most, yet my current gear is not suited to it.

     CA G36C :D
      2High-cap mags  :(
      KJWorks Carbine NBB  :(
      KJWorks MK1 NBB :(
      Tanaka SAA Revlover  :(  (This gun sucks but I love it!)
      Paintball mask(which I hate, still shopping!)
      Woodland BDU's
      Good boots soon, but I have some to wear.

Yes I need plenty of gear, but I hope that I can at least play, to see if this is gonna be my bag.

I'm going to try to make it to every AA event that I can before I commit my hard earned hobby dollars$

Hope to see some of you soon, and remember "Honor is the gift that one gives oneself!"

PS-If I don't get a load of crap from you guys about the size of my post I will be disapointed!
