+- $12K? That actually doesn't sound too bad for a life long dreem.

I was down in Tuscon the other week and a friend lives right near DM and all the bone yards. That really makes me cry, suck a waste. I hate seeing rows and rows of cool planes wasting away. Something tells me the Government isn't going to sell me an A10 though.
e
As a matter of fact, most of the airframes at DM are so full of fatigue cracks and battle damage that they can't be patched up to fly. That's why you see them gradually being taken apart for spare parts for the airplanes that are still airworthy. Actually the military is very good at getting the last flight hour out of every aircraft in inventory. Think about it, the Army's still flying 40 year old Huey's and the Air force is flying almost 50 year old B-52's. Civilians never match that level of utilization.
End of lecture......

Don't know about that, Woody.. I have a 1950 1-23 Sailplane in perfect shape, and there's a lot of Cubs, Cessna's, DC-3's and such out there still flying well and maybe older than their owners..

Wish I had a F-101-der in my hangar, though. Voodoos are my favorite dream plane

Yeah but little airplanes don't fly that much and they're in a much more benign environment. F-101, huh. With today's fuel prices?????

Good point, I'd need a second mortgage to afford a flight's worth of Jet-A, but what a rush to punch that baby......

And there are better airplanes around. At that little airport south of Marana there are four A-4's all nice and pickled sitting there waiting. I suspect they may be a standby inventory for that civilan training unit at Williams that has government contracts to train foreign pilots in air combat tactics.
Or the F-4, now there's a real man's airplane...... wrote a novel about the F-4 a while back

Greg did his first airsoft games with these dudes; seems they a little tense, not fun like the Az group.

Who are you talking about, dad? I think I only recognize one or two of the people in the pictures that I hotlinked... Those aren't the guys we used to rent the place out to- they are Dollarhide's games.

In other news, I was too busy to go waste time on Fort Ord this week, so no pictures or updates of any kind. Plus, I wasn't there over a weekend anyway- so I wouldn't have seen whether or not the place is in use had I gone there.

I was referring to the first group you played with while we still lived there. You're right; if the post was for the group in the pictures, my mistake......
