General Airsoft Discussion / Thanks!
« on: April 01, 2005, 10:20:22 PM »
Gentlemen (and ladies)

Last Thrusday I finally got to meet up with Victor3 (Ed) and Rhino (Robert) for dinner after returning from the sand box, had a plesent dinner and catch up period, and was feeling pretty good, on the way out I informed them I had some T-shirts I had brought back for the two of them. After mentioning the T-shirts Ed says "I have something in the car for you, MAN was I surprised at what it was!

I want to give a heartfelt Thanks to all of you out there who helped him in getting the gift he gave me, and want everyone to know it was appreacated. Although it saddens me that I won't have to try an make the ol MC-51 work for another game ;) And can't wait to make a game again....

Well Folks it's official I'm heading off to the big sand box for a while. It has been fun, and thanks for taking BB's from me, or sending some my way these past couple of years. I'll see everyone when I get back.

Time to go play [}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]

I haven't been able to use smiles am I the only one??? in the FAQ I found this

quote:
You've probably seen others use smilies before in e-mail messages or other bulletin board posts. Smilies are keyboard characters used to convey an emotion, such as a smile or a frown . This bulletin board automatically converts certain text to a graphical representation when it is inserted between brackets []. Here are the smilies that are currently supported by Airsoft Arizona.com Forums:
ADODB.Recordset error '800a0bcd'
Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.

How a bout a section dealing with legislative issues that could affect Airsoft?? Being new to this sport and coming from real steel and hunting forums where there is always some group trying to take away the rights of some one else to enjoy them selves in a sport that generally harms no one else (every group has it's bad apples) I think it would be a good Idea to have a spot where we can check on the latest legislative threats to the sport.

Such as the one I found on the Azod.com hunting site that affects Numourous sports hunting, hiking, and anything else that uses public lands for recreation. Below I have copied the post.

The Pima County Sonoran Desert Protection Plan (SDCP) will stop hunting on BLM, State and private property. This plan covers 1.4 million acres which is all in Pima County. The Pima County Government has a law on the books which forbids the discharge of a firearm on lands administrated by the county. The county will be the administrator of the Environmental Impact Study/Statement and the Endangered Species Act section 10 permit under which the SDCP will exist. This plan will also stop prospecting, OHV and 4x4 use, equestrian and mountain bike use as well as close thousands of miles of access roads. Only designated roads and camping areas will be for limited public use. The Pima County Coallition For Multiple Use is fighting this attempted land closure. Our site is easily reached at www.sdcp.info or www.sdcp.org. Our Meeting date is posted on our site.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can see this easily spreading to the state and even the Nation if given a chance. And all affected peoples need to voice their opinons to the local elected officals.

A Bushmater AR15 huh? Hmmm.... Good luck, they are kinda hard to find at a great deal in a store/ shop. I got mine at a gun show for 700 from the Arizona Sportsman (gunshow special) back in 98-99. They often have several AR's at any of their stores. Most gun shops will have at least one AR. I've had good dealing personally with (Az Sportman on 7th and camelback, and at the ol shooters world) and also at a place in surprise called Gun's Plus (dysart and grand ave)

Here is the Bushmaster Website

Saddly even factory direct they are pretty pricey. And complete lowers/ uppers run 380 an up last I looked. You can prolly pick a stripped Bushmaster lower for around 180 or so.

If you do want to go the build your own route you can build one for as little as $350-$400 dependant on your skill level, how much work you hire out (IE headspacing), tools you have to buy, and the deals you catch.

If you do decide to build I have not heard any good things about American Spirit Arms (ASA) out of scotsdale. Things I've heard incluse non spec parts (not interchangable with other makes, models) and refusal to sell parts in order to try and get gunsmith fee's.

Good luck, an enjoy your AR once ya get it.

Side note, anyone seen the .45acp uppers? I've seen pics of them on the AR15.com forums, very nice, but seems that they are hard to get ahold of. If you know of a source let me know as I would love one for myself!

This is a petition driven prop. that was attempted to be put on last year, but they fell short of signatures. Basicly they want to make it so you have to show ID to vote, currently many districts do not ask for proof of ID. This prop also wants to make it so that inorder to recieve goverment aid you would also have to prove leagal residence status.
Here is the link to the website from the group who has been pushing this http://www.pan2004.com

Kyle you speak wisely my freind. The only reason for the "5.56" conversion was to "save wieght" and several studies were published to prove it was "more leathal" due to the "Shock wave effect" even though as mentioned it just doesn't hold up to realality.

I personally love shooting rifles chambered in good old 7.62 nato and the even better round 30-06. But unlike me, the average soldier hasn't fired or even touched a weapon before they arive at basic training (unlike in the past) and are "VERY" recoil shy. When I went thru basic I was amazed to here people complain about the recoil of an M-16 which I feel recoils less than most .22's! So I can see where the army is going with this new system but I don'tlike it one damn bit.

Interesting Frank, And too damn truthfull! Of the units activated in this state alone there are two of them that were activated to do base security even though their were anything but that MP's (one was Arty the other Engineers)!

But I must admire their intestional fortitude to suck it up and do the job.

And remember the National Guard and Reserve trains only an average of 38 days a year to meet the same standards that Active duty folks train for all year. Now granted some units don't train properly but then again neither do some AD units (506th Maint Co ring any bells???)

AZSarge I woun't worry about the boneheads, they have proven they haven't a clue about airsoft in their posts, esp
quote:
you want to play airsoft fine its a game.
What it isn't is a simulation of anything ok its Fun thats all. I fly kites for fun I also go mountain boarding which is basically an overgrown skateboard pulled by a giant kite I'm first to admit this is not a terribly clever thing to do but its fun
militarymorone.com sums up perfectly the airsoft world they don't take themselves terribly seriously either.

While yes Airsoft isn't the best simulation device out there it is safer than simnitions and a hell of a lot better than Miles gear (at least the 1st gen crap). And for Mout, CQB operations or home defense type training Airsoft is perfect. But if these wanna be military "guru's" wanna bash airsoft let them, no skin off of my nose.

Not aware of any other games, The lockdown-03 looks like fun, but then again so does the QCB compitions!

Paco since everyone that went to CD thought it was so bad why don't the three Airsoft organizations here band togather and hold their own event? I'm sure we could find a ranch that wouldn't mind a few hundred people running around making the place look like WW3!

If you had a shop do it send it back, if it was yourself or a friend Have Harley (see the post about his repair services under General Discusion) or Game On which is on northern just east of 51st ave and Ron can take a look at it. his # is also in the General Disc. forum under "US Airsoft teams up". Either one of them should be able to help you out.

Hello Felix,

As a resident of the greater Community of Tonopah, the persons you need to contact are the Maricopa Sherrif Dept and the Palo Verde Security Dept (since they are soo close). Both are listed in the phone book.

There is talks here of incorpreating and becoming an official City, but it is still on the drawing board. If that happens I'll be sure to let everyone know the Numbers For the Tonopah PD if and when the form.

Have fun and if the scedule of your game works See you there!

Not happy with your post over one Airsoft Players???

http://www.airsoftplayers.com/forums/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=&TOPIC_ID=6519

Why spread this over boards where you have never posted on before??? Your whole post intales that this board is treating everyone infair or that the Mods are running the boards like little hitler wannabies, which (as many will attest I'm sure) Just isn't the case.
